It's baaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure if it's just one seller with a few accounts, or if this card just changes hands quickly, and when the buyer realizes there is something very wrong about this card, they then try to dupe someone else.

Hahaha, discarded NKOTB, MC Hammer, and Vanilla Ice cassettes have found new life as fake card props!

Nate,

What's wrong with it? It's hard to make out anything from the seller's poor photo. What's the history?

npa589 08-22-2011 05:01 PM

Seemingly, this card appears every few weeks, and sometimes has a hiatus of a couple months. EVERY time it is put up for sale, it is a photo JUST like this, or in other words, a photo that does not show the card close up. If someone has a VCP account /or some other extended completed listings search, I bet they could search and find it's past few sales. I can remember at least 3 other times within the past 6 months that I've seen this Cobb on eBay.

I made an offer to the seller and asked for better scans/photos. After I got them I suggested she contact joe orlando and ask for his opinion on the slab/card being authentic.

She told me a few days ago that she had contacted him and was waiting for his opinion. If he thought it was good I suggested she have it reholdered.

The "as is" seems to indicate his response was less than positive.

I found the last thread that this was talked about. I know there was another one someone else started, but can't find it.

In this thread though, there is another link provided to the OTHER time it was sold.

The flip # does check out in the system.

Maybe it's just coincidence that the flip looks terrible, and that sellers always have pictures that do not show the card close up.

the font is terribly wrong, i am so tired of seeing these auctions. you would think they could at least use the correct font on the flip if they were going to print them!

I like how they took the picture on a pool table! That 8 Ball is what you will be behind if you buy that card!:eek:;)

I love those where the enlarge feature shows the exact same picture as the regular picture, really instills a sense of confidence.

I also sent a message to the seller asking for better scans and stated the labeling looked off to me. I have yet to receive a response.

iwantitiwinit 08-23-2011 05:40 PM

Here's the response I received this afternoon (somehow I don't believe it):

Dear iwantitiwinit,
