Got these in September at a local auction...bought a whole book filled with only auto cards.

More highlights from the book...this may start me on a new collecting goal of hall of famer autos on insert cards.

There were lots of in person or TTM autos on cards in the book.

Okay, I think I'm going to go for it...surprising how cheaply you can get hall of famer autos on cards on ebay. Picked both of these up this week for $5 each. I think I'm going for hall of famers in all the major sports.

The following pics are more from the book I picked up. I realize that it's quite obvious the Jack Kemp sigs are autopenned, I only got one Butkus though, does anyone know if Butkus autopenned his too? The Dawson's are 100% authentic. These came from the estate of the promoter who brought Andre to Lincoln for a card show signing.

Great day at the flea market today - Gordie Howe autographed Upper Deck Puck and Official AL Bobby Brown ball signed by Bob Feller, Enos Slaughter, and Johnny Mize. The best part, $20 total for both. And to think, I was going to sleep in today. :)

Today's mail call...six more Hall Of Famers

btcarfagno 10-11-2018 11:06 AM

Found this toughie at a very reasonable price. Flat singles like this for Bithorn are incredibly tough.

Soooooo Excited

Added a new one. Comes from a man who was an usher at Forbes Field. He is one of the earliest deceased players from the 1934 set. Deceased 1952

Now at 82/96.

Arky Vaughan

Great pickup Mark! Just curious, of the 14 that remain, have you at least seen or know that they exist? Good luck on picking up the rest, and if you need to get some quick cash to pick up any, you always know you could sell a couple of those signed magazines. ;)

Lordstan 10-15-2018 09:25 PM

Thanks Mike.

I have seen or know of signed copies of all the cards I am missing except for one. Ironically, I have seen more signed Gehrig's than any of the remaining players. The rate limiting factor will definitely be the money.

Awesome pick up Mark!!

Thank you, Dan.

Nice Arky Vaughn there Mark. I like the back story.

I don't acquire too many autographs but I really liked these....

Now that's interesting...I didn't know they encapsulated baseballs.

Lordstan 10-19-2018 02:19 PM

Thanks Gary, Paul, Michael, and Pete. They come slowly now, so it's always exciting to get one.

Chris,
I am torn about that Beckett ball holder. I looks very very nice, but the round top would make it hard to stack.
If I were into encapsulation, generally speaking, and had an important single ball, I could definitely see using their service due to the attractiveness of the display.
Nice ticket and ball BTW.

Pete,
Those are the first signed Dempsey exhibit cards I have seen. very nice

Great Vaughan Mark - I'm working on something similar(ish) and he is proving to be a tremendously challenging signature to get, not surprising.

If anyone sees a '39PB with Arky's hancock, I need it. not want, need. :D

Just use the "Snipping Tool", under Windows Accessories. Draw a box around what you want and "Save As" .jpeg.
