well the '55 Topps raw set is getting close to done. Got a few more I have to track down but most of em oughta be in the mail by now...so time to start working on the next one :D

So here's my first one for the new project. a 1954 Topps complete set all graded PSA 7 or better! I know atleast one other person on here has done this set or is working on it so hopefully mine will go well too!

First pickup:

'54s

I think the 54s are awesome, loaded with RCs and HOFers, very unique. I would like to pick up the Whitey Ford--I think that is an awesome card

scmavl 03-19-2011 10:59 AM

I agree with Pat, it's a very cool set. I remember a '54 Heinie Manush was the first "vintage" card I ever bought back in the late 80's. This set also has one of the most unique cards ever produced, the John & Ed O'Brien twins card. Great card, great set. Good luck!

Good luck and enjoy from a fellow '54 collector...nice Stanky to kick things off...I'll be curious to get your feedback on what the toughest cards are for you to track down...

yeah its a really nice lookin set. that one and the '55 are real close together in terms of my favorite vintage sets, so naturally they're the first two I had to go after!

That twin card is kinda cool. I've actually got one in a lower grade and I remember when I first got it I thought it was kinda unique. Thanks for the well wishes scmavl!

I always try to get a big jump to start it off and then go slower after that. I feel like I need a solid foundation to start from so that i won't lose interest or get frustrated and feel like I'm not making any progress, lol. Now that I have a good chunk to build on I'll probably kinda take it easy and just pick them up here and there :)

thanks for the comment!

Good luck. One card on my want list is a 54 Duke Snider. I think that is a great looking card.

yeah that is a really nice one! i saw a guy at the show this past weekend who had a pretty nice Snider graded PSA 7. I told myself that if I made enough in sales to cover it that I'd pick it up, but fell a bit short ;)

Isn't this the Lasorda from the poll you set up a few weeks back? Either way great card.
