Expert assistance needed with paypal

Posted By: dan mckee
ok guys, would someone be so kind as to email me a letter explaining why Marketkingman's Fatima's are fake so that I can fax it to paypal? This is beyond funny. Dan

To continue with the investigation of your complaint, we must request
documentation to support your claim that the item is not authentic.
Please
obtain a document from an unbiased, third-party, such as a dealer,
appraiser, or an organization that is qualified in the area of the item
in
question (other than yourself), which clearly identifies the item as
not
authentic. The document must specifically state how the item received
differs from an authentic item and must include a detailed explanation
of
how the person evaluating the item determined that it is not authentic.
If
possible, the document should include a serial number, and must be on
letterhead that includes the name, address, and phone number of the
business or organization so that PayPal may contact them if necessary.

The documents should be faxed to PayPal at (402) 537-5760 (please note
this
is a United States phone number, if you are faxing from outside the
United
States, you will generally need to dial 00 1 before the number). Please
include a cover sheet with your fax that includes the email address
registered on your PayPal account and the ID number of your claim
(PP-452-936-757), so we may attach the documents to your claim as
quickly
as possible.

We must receive your fax by April 25, 2008 in order to proceed with the
investigation of your claim. If we do not receive your fax by April 25,
2008, your claim will be canceled. We are unable to grant extensions to
this time period. Please note that PayPal is unable to reimburse you
for
any costs or fees that may be incurred in obtaining the requested
documents. Any documents you provide may also be supplied to the seller
in
your dispute if necessary.

Posted By: James Gallo
Dan

This is one of the huge problems with paypal. They make is so hard to get your money back that a lot of people give up.

I would suggest someone like Barry who has an auction and is well know do it for you. You need someone who can be verified and Barry or any of the big auctions houses would work.

When I did this, I basically wrote the letter and had an official appraiser put it on their letter head.

Once you send that over it should be clear sailing hopefully.

Good luck.

James G

Looking for 1915 Cracker Jacks and 1909-11 American Caramel E90-1.

Posted By: dan mckee
Good advice, thanks James. What kills me is they see him putting fakes up with other ID's and they kill those auctions off yet I still need to prove that the POS he sent me is fake? Unreal.

Posted By: Matt
Dan - I had an easier time convincing them I returned the card then I did proving it was a forgery. As you have returned the card already, you may be best served by just getting them that information.

Posted By: Matt
They're asking for documentation of a forgery because that's the claim Dan is pursuing. As I pursued my claim on both grounds and found the sailing smoother on the "returned item" front, I suggested to Dan he may want to look into doing the same thing.

Posted By: Dan Bretta
Paypal and ebay could really make their jobs a lot easier by hiring outside assistance in the collectibles markets. They could get a card guy, coin guy, comic book guy, et cetera. Some of these types of issues where they seem to take a lot of time trying to solve could be done in a matter of moments. Seasoned collectors can spot the fakes and ripoffs within seconds, but for some reason ebay and paypal can't seem to figure it out.

Posted By: dan mckee
Hire? Hell I would give my time for free to help clean up the scum! I hear they have a few guys that police the stamps category. I asked about the pre-war cards category and was told that there are no known experts in that field. That hurt my feelings.

Posted By: dan mckee
Just got off of the phone with paypal, Matt you are the man! They immediately told me I do not need a letter since the item has been returned and he sifned for it. Now get this: The item was only covered for $200 but since I am an EXCELLENT paypal customer, I get the full $567 back and they are going after him! Paypal and Ebay never cease to amaze me! dan.
