Mariano Rivera

Anybody know when Mariano Rivera changed the style of his autograph?

His older (taller) autograph seems significantly less desirable - any reason?

His early autographs are much more desirable.

As a Rivera collector with around 50 signed items in my collection, I could not agree more. The 90s sigs are much more desirable than the mass produced Steiner era signatures. Not even close.

If the older signatures appear to sometimes go for less, it's likely because less educated collectors not familiar with the older signing style mistakenly think they are fakes. That's fine with me... They can collect the Steiner stickers and I'll get the good stuff. :D

Hi Guys,

Can I get a second opinion? Fake or real Rivera?

I think it's good. A transitional style IMO. Has the newer M, but the R is still more reminiscent of the earlier signatures.

I like what Steiner is doing with signings though...like this piece here where Rivera wrote out a whole story. This is good stuff.

That is the mother of all inscriptions. WOW!

I think in some cases the inscription is preprinted, but the signature is live ink.

If the entire inscription is handwritten, I can't even imagine what Steiner would charge for this.

In my opinion, the logos and copyright disclaimers in the lower right detract significantly.
