I'm sure...thanks to those "investments"...there are some people "living in a van down by the river!".

Spike 08-13-2017 09:29 PM

Jackie's first uniform would be great, 8 figures or not. Any key Jesse Owens items from 1936 Olympics in a private collection? Something like "complete set of gold medal USA relay team jerseys" could do it.

If it's not the Cy Young items already posted, a jersey collection of the 1919 Black Sox team?

MVSNYC 08-14-2017 05:59 AM

Based on the email, it's a singular piece, as the terms "Collectible" & "Item" were used.

packs 08-14-2017 07:31 AM

It also says sports related so it's actual relationship to sports could be looser than we're thinking.

Snapolit1 08-14-2017 07:41 AM

Also think that if it was baseball related they would have said that up front.

vintagerookies51 08-14-2017 12:11 PM

Where is everyone getting this 8 figures idea from? Didn't see any numerical value in the email... Would be awesome if it was the Jackie Robinson debut jersey. Whatever it is I doubt we will be disappointed

Easy to miss, but it was from this post earlier in the thread (page 1)

we are not able to disclose the item yet, however it will be the first sports related collectible to have sold for 8 figures, no question. Barring unforeseen delay in announcing, the item will be announced late next week from NYC in a press conference with the parties involved.

If you wish to consign to our October Legends auction, please contact our office now at info@goldinauctions.com
or me personally at ken@goldinauctions.com

thank you

I know I mentioned earlier my guess/feeling that it would most likely be Jackie Robinson's Dodgers debut jersey, but.......

Does anyone know if Babe Ruth's rookie Red Sox jersey is known to exist?

Also, if it does exist, could it be positively identified/authenticated at this point?

Steve

OJ's White Bronco.

Goldin will buy it for a million and then announce its worth 10.

btcarfagno 08-15-2017 07:56 PM

I would be pissed if that's all it is. I'm thinking some new great item is hitting the market. Something noone even knew existed. What a kick in the crotch the f&$&ing Bronco would be.

I might buy it and melt it like his Heisman.

Goldin reminds me of P.T. Barnum.

hammer 08-16-2017 06:46 AM

Is this the same Kenny Goldin who used to be a barker on shop at home years back?

Did Elvis have any sports related moments? This is the anniversary of his death.

Missed the episode, did they even make him an offer?

btcarfagno 08-16-2017 09:44 AM

I am hearing it's not the Bronco (thank goodness) but that it is a very significant item of historical importance.

It's tough for me to imagine a sports related items that could garner that much money. Jackie Robinson's first Dodgers Jersey is about the only item I could see getting that much.

Mdmtx 08-16-2017 10:59 AM

I'm thinking it may be Aaron judge's pacifier.

A true entrepreneur would buy it for 1 million and then break it down into components. For example OJ's Ford Bronco muffler, the radiator, the passenger side rear view mirror, etc. By this method one could potentially net that magic 10 million amount.

Don't give Topps any ideas. They might start including "chase used" pieces of the Bronco in their next set.

Chase used chase cards...brilliant idea Sean!

I was thinking something from Ruth, maybe a Baltimore uniform or something from the industrial school, maybe an early Cobb item.

Fballguy 08-16-2017 03:42 PM

An actual Curt Schilling cloned from his bloody sock.

Good one! Although I don't need to spend 8 figures to be ignored by insanely good looking women.....I've always had a knack to do that for free

Bobsbats 08-16-2017 08:37 PM

Just a guess

Joe Jackson's 1917 World Series Ring! I've seen it......don't know if its for sale though.

I will end the speculation. It's my 1987 Topps Barry Larkin rookie card. All 8 figure offers are welcome.

ctownboy 08-16-2017 10:42 PM

One sports related item?

The Baseball Hall of Fame building.

I heard it was a massive accumulation of 1961 Topps #242 Hal Smith cards....:)

Goldin is adding more fuel to the fire, and delaying the press conference:

Ps no it's not the bronco.
There are lovers and haters, and even the biggest haters will say " ok, he was right this is by far the most valuable and the most significant" 50 years from now nothing will come around that is more important to the world of sports then what we will be selling

bobbyw8469 08-17-2017 11:05 AM

The suspense is over. It is Ted Williams's head. The lab in New Mexico got tired of storing it.

conor912 08-17-2017 12:25 PM

I understand generating buzz, but isn't all this hyperbole just setting everyone up for disappointment? It's hard to get louder once you've turned it up to 11.

Fballguy 08-17-2017 12:57 PM

Morganna's implants?
