Star Jordan looking painfully thin to me

In fact a number of this seller's Star BGS cards look thin to me.

Compare it to the same seller's sealed bag, for example.

I don't trust them on catching trims

Surely looks it Peter, but I may be biased by the bgs holder as i have seen in my opinion so many sheet cut or outright trimmed cards in bgs holders. They are great at spotting counterfeits. every bit as good as SGC and PSA, but in my opinion trimming they often seem to miss or maybe don't care if it meets their size requirements I honestly do not know.

You'd think they could get a better grade than a 7.5 after the facelift.

Another comparison, first one is the seller in question. Maybe I am seeing things.

I've owned and still own some star jordans and the width seems pretty consistent to me. Those look a bit thin.

I don't know how to do the high tech thing of putting one on top of the other and then alternating, but I would be very surprised if the one on the left was not thinner.

I do remember reading a thread on Blowout forums that discussed this topic as well. There is however no evidence that this seller trims his cards. Furthermore, Star cards vary in size. Even the Jordan #101 is shorter compared to the others. Here is what I found on basketballgold.com:

FAQ: Why does the #101 appear to be short?

Answer: Most #101's were in fact cut shorter than other cards. The #101 was located in the top, left corner of the sheet which lead to centering issues and caused over 90% of the cards to be cut shorter. Someone telling you a #101 you own, but have not yet graded, is short could be an unscrupulous person trying to take advantage of you and buy it cheaper. The larger size #101's are referred to as full-size #101's and measure 3.5 inches from top to bottom. While the #101 is notoriously off-center, well-centered #101's in fact exist but the card often suffers from Diamond cut issues.

On what planet is that card an 8?

Peter_Spaeth 09-12-2018 09:08 AM

On what planet is it not trimmed? Ask Beckett I guess.

Stampsfan 09-13-2018 01:03 PM

Not on a planet, but on a Star in the Beckett universe...

HasselhoffsCheeseburger 09-14-2018 09:21 AM

That Bird is embarrassing. Beckett should be ashamed of that. Someone needs to show them that and have them sit in the corner and think about what they've done for a while.
