A Reasonable Observation and Suggestion for B/S/T
I'm not going to make a federal case over this, but is anyone else a bit perturbed when a B/S/T thread gets bumped long after the sale to report safe arrival of the item or similar such chatter.
I do like to get this information on my shipped cards, but isn't a quick PM the appropriate vehicle to report this type of message, rather than bumping the thread. Listers on B/S/T with something for sale, like to keep their wares near the top of their respective sections. Knowing that a sold card successfully reached Walla Walla, Washington is not "need to know" information for the entire forum. Enforcing "common sense" should not be an administrative mandate. |
I have only done it twice, but I thought others, being as I am up here in Canada, might like to know there were no hiccups sending it/them up here to me, and it also lets the others, who might also be considering purchases from the seller, know he is good to deal with.

No more so than when that monster thread gets bumped every time someone buys or sells a T206. :D

I forgot to tell you that I received the card you sent me 15 years ago. |
It's not near as bad as all the nice card or good luck with the sale type posts.
I also agree with Peter about that monster T206 thread. Does anybody even collect them anymore?;):D |
I have more of a "problem" (not much of one, maybe a pet peeve?) with the sellers who bump 5-10-15 times with no change to price or anything. A friendly bump or two, but after that, realize nobody wants it.

I agree with the OP.
It also bothers me when people bump a thread to say "Sold!". Edit your original post so that is says sold and don't send it back to the top to bump down other threads that actually contain things that are still for sale. |

The Unofficial, Un-Written, Gentleman's Agreement List of BST By-Laws as Understood by Me
1. Limit your number of Active Threads to 2-3 at a time. 2. Wait 3 Days between Thread Bumps. 3. Do not Bump a Thread simply to announce a Sale or to announce a Delivery. 4. Do not interfere with a person's effort to Sell or Auction with mean-spirited, opinionated posts. If you don't like it, don't Buy or Bid. Any others? |

I kind of agree with Frank BUT it does show others that the transaction went smoothly and that the seller/buyer are trustworthy.

Thanks Frank! That card you sold me in the summer of '09 finally arrived. Great seller here folks!

I am bothered when members are bothered. Suffice it to say I am always bothered.

That stuff never bothers me. What gets me is when I open a bst thread to see a card, look at the photo, decide that I might like to contact the seller, then get down further in the thread to find that the item is sold. If it said so in the title, I would have saved my time.

I think there should be a 3 bump max rule. At that point put it on eBay or send to an AH.
And I agree if sold modify the title to save others time. |
I wanna complain about the sale threads posting at 2:55 EDT and selling at 3:05.
The participation trophy indoctrination tells me this is inappropriate and I'm gonna tell. More to the point... Whatever it is, I'm against it - Joey Ramone |

Also hate seeing the sell price removed/edited and replaced with sold. Makes it hard to see what things I'm interested in are selling for on the board. Seems to be a gap between prices on the BST and elsewhere (i.e. eBay).
