1990 topps common EBay auctions

Can anyone explain to me how this person is making money on an auction like this? This is far from a joke thread. I have to be missing something.

he cannot be making money even if he hand delivers!

The shipping to Canada for this "$0.01" card is over $13.00.

Jobu 05-02-2017 12:11 PM

I wouldn't even bid $0.01

But it's shipped from Norway.... Ohio.

Sorry, I didn't know there even was a Norway, Ohio.

A year or so ago I had an offer from eBay that if I sold 4 items that month, they would give me $25.... So I listed 4 individual cards for a penny each with free shipping. They each sold for enough to cover the shipping, and eBay gave me 25 bucks :)

Not sure if this seller is doing the same thing or not...

My guess is he is hoping that one buyer will bid on a large number of cards and some of the items will be bid up to the 25-99 cent range(340 of his listings sold in this range). Otherwise, he is obviously losing money. Even with the PP micro payments account, he would be foolish to even accept any small 1-15 cent payments, just send the card and only be out the 40+ cents for the postage. Not a very effective business model.

He's definitely found an arbitrage somewhere.

Looks like the same person won 11 of his cards. The whole thing is just strange.

It is Norway Iowa not Norway Ohio. Norway is north of Iowa City, home of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

May be trying to build up a good feedback rating. Some places look at EBay feedback ratings like a credit score.

Running it through the postal meter machine at work?

Or he is wanting to build up a bunch of cheap feedback, just before he sells much more expensive items?
