Photograph Yellowing

Hi.

Is it possible for a vintage photograph to yellow in a few hours of sitting in a hot mailbox (100F+)? I swear I had a Kodak 8x10 come back to me yellower than before - or I might just be imagining things.

This happen to anyone else?

If a mailbox got hot enough in the sun to yellow a photo, I think the envelope and any other papers would get a bit toasty too. Seems unlikely, but I guess stranger things have happened.

What color is the box? I assume a black metal would get the hottest.

It's just one of those gray/silver USPS cluster boxes. Problem I get concerned about is it's Phoenix weather. eeek.

Anyone have something similar happen to them?
