Info Needed: UNC 1909 Red Sox Supplements

Posted By: Robert
If anyone is interested or has any further information to provide, a group of seven uncataloged 1909 Boston Red Sox supplements has been posted on the VintageBall website (http://www.vintageball.com).

More info is definitely needed, but here is some of what's known so far:

Featuring the same Carl Horner portrait photographs as those on the T204 Ramly and T.T.T. tobacco card series, these supplements were issued by the Boston Sunday Post. Players known to exist in this series include Tris Speaker, Bill Carrigan, Jake Stahl, Tubby Spencer, Harry Wolter, Harry Lord, Charles Chech, Ambrose McConnell and a handful of others. All have in-action and portrait photos.

Here are scans of two, below, with all featured on the "What's This?" page of the VintageBall website. BTW, this isn't a commmercial posting, as only information is sought (these items aren't for sale, and VintageBall doesn't sell anything). The site features material from various collectors, with an emphasis on material in need of ID assistance.

Any info is most appreciated!
Posted By: Bob Lemke
of pictures of these in my "orphan" photo files for many years. One is Tris Speaker, the other Edward Cicotte. The competing Boston papers were big on supplements in this era. I expect to have a "trial" checklist in the 2005 catalog, but current retail value is an open question.
