Midwest Member Luncheon- Sunday, Oct. 16th Ann Arbor, MI

Hello friends. It has been discussed in another thread, and there seems to be enough of us interested, so we will have a go at what may turn into some type of tradition.

WHEN: Sunday, October 16th at 1 PM
WHERE: "Cottage Room" at Conor O'Neill's, Ann Arbor

FOR DIRECTIONS: http://www.conoroneills.com/annarbor/

It would be great to discuss our addictions, share cool items, possibly even do some trading.

If you plan to attend, please post in this thread or PM. You may list your collecting interests as well, possibly to let another attending member to bring something to trade. Hoping to meet many local addicts! :D

Best,

Andy

Huge thanks to Bill Roberts for securing the location for our gathering. We have the "Cottage Room" at Conor O'Neill's from 1-5 PM. We'll need to move to another location in the pub after 5 if need be, as the room is then booked.

If anybody else would like to attend, feel free to post in the thread.

Best,

Andy

I havn't been active in cards for years, but am super active on the memorabilia side. Here are a few pics of what I'm into.

Actually, I teach at Northview High School, but I've lived in the Toledo area all my life. Graduated from Central Catholic High school.

Go Mudhens & Rockets!

Looking forward to meeting everybody. Mike, sick memorabilia room! Hey, the Lions won today! Playoff bound this year if Stafford holds up!

Best,

Andy

ls7plus 09-12-2011 01:00 AM

Stafford looked like a poised, ten-year veteran, the way he almost instantly read defenses and often threaded the needle to hit his receiver through coverage! Plus both defensive and offensive lines looked good, and linebacker Tulloch seems like a tremendous addition--Bless them boys!

Love those Mudhens . . .

.

. . . a bit OT, but I really enjoyed the five or six years I had season tickets (1992-1996) for the Mudhens. Where else could a nobody get front row seats, right behind the third base dugout. Only in minor league baseball. Only made it to half the home games, but the organization had a great arrangement where I could donate the unused tickets to the local Big Brothers, Big Sisters organizations. The thank you letters from the kids (forwarded by the team) were much appreciated.

I still have a vivid memory of from a 1993 game, watching an opposing batter with the Charlotte Knights hit the ball so hard in each of three at bats, that I swore he would kill someone before that game was over. Intentionally walked his fourth at bat. A sigh of relief by Mudhen fans. Said out loud, to no one in particular, that kid would someday be a major leaguer. 600 major league home runs later, he still is.

Its getting closer...........

Hello everyone. Just bumping the post to remind everyone about that sunday so hope to see lots of faces. Hopefully we can see the lions get another one as well. Hope to make a trade or two as well.

Take care!

rainier2004 10-08-2011 04:40 PM

8 more days.........

No idea how many folks are coming to this as I got a lot of pms when this first started but the talked has seemed to quiet lately. Still excited for show and tell and the trade circle.
Oh yeah, hopefully we can see the Lions keep it going and GO TIGERS! Until then, happy hunting!

rainier2004 10-10-2011 04:09 PM

Anyone excited?

AndyG09 10-10-2011 04:20 PM

I think we'll have a great time regardless of how many we have! I will be bringing a few things to trade and I know Matt will be bringing stuff from Kzoo as well. Hopefully the Tigers are still going!!

Best,

Andy

Oct. 16th - Ann Arbor

Well guys have fun. I was looking forward to meeting everyone but am traveling on business and will be out. The mood may be a little somber with the loss to MSU.

Hope to meet all soon.

nice to meet other collectors

Thanks Andy for initiating the get together. I really enjoyed talking cards and memorabilia with a great group of guys. Although, we may have put the jinks on the Lions. I look forward to getting together in the Spring.

Best regards,

Joe

AndyG09 10-16-2011 06:32 PM

I think our first gathering went pretty well. Thanks to Bill Roberts for securing Conor's, as it was a great Irish pub. Nice to see D's Detroit police trophy ball in person along with a cool 1850's railroad bat. It was fun to see the cards that were brought to share. One trade was completed with a couple of Cobb's changing hands. All in all, it was a fine first gathering. Nothing like getting to hang out with nice people who enjoy our hobby. We'll shoot for another one in the Spring, hopefully at Mike's house where we can see his fine memorabilia collection. Until then....

Best,

Andy

D. Broughman 10-18-2011 06:45 AM

Andy I had a great time talking and seeing everone's cards. It was great hearing Mike's stories about his collection and how he found some of them. Hope we get to meet at Mikes to see his collection. Looking forward to seeing everone again. Thanks for setting it up. D.
