Jim Thorpe M101-5

Posted By: <b>Tom</b><p>There seen to be a lot of confusion over this card. People talk about the wide gap between the picture and border and no gap between picture and border. Large print small print. I am going to tell you something about a long study that I have conducted about this card(s). ALL reprint and counterfiet card of Jim Thorpe M101-5 have one thing in common versa a real Jim Thorpe card, there is a very thin line that runs straight across just above his ankles all across the picture. There is some others things that are different, but I would have to go into great detail.(I will provide that information later own). You will seen this line on all reprint or counterfeit card. I have looked at several Jim Thorpe cards under 10X,60X and 200X power microscope. I even went as far to take various type of images of these cards to tell the difference between real or reprintor counterfiet. I really belive that there was two types of version(s) made of The Sporting News M101-5 promotional set made back either in 1915 or 1916. I know the reason why the set was changed from 1915 to 1916, but I do not agree with the reason. Most expert and professional grader(s) cannot seen to get this card set right much less the M101-4. When you study the past own how picture cards we call today baseball cards were made during that time era in American History there is all types of possibles that we just do not know about. The best thing to do is lots of research and study the facts from serveral different types of resources.
