New to Net54!!

Just wanted to introduce myself.

I've been reading some threads for a few weeks now and I feel that it's about time I start doing some posting :)

Hope to meet some good people, learn a ton, and hopefully buy/bid/sell/trade

:)
Dave

Welcome to the forum, Dave! I can truly say that after many years on the net, and countless forum memberships, you will not find a finer class of folks anywhere. The level of knowledge displayed here is incredible, and in my experience, everybody is helpful.

How long have you been collecting, and do you have any favorite set?

Collecting

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

Well... my main collection is Clemente as I have all major cards (and some oddball) from 55-73. Always looking to bump up some of my cards if anyone has any for sale.

Also collect Aaron, Ryan, Rose and "modern" Maddux, Ripken, and Henderson.

Would love to own at least one Mantle and Ruth (grade is irrelevant) but have never found one that has enough eye appeal in my price range.

Sometimes I'll dabble with unopened stuff (BBCE items mostly) as well if the price is right.

Exactly! You can store 2 T206 cards in the space it would require to store 1 Clemente card! :D

Great taste in players, Dave. Clemente and Yount are my favorite players, and Hammerin' Hank is right behind them.

Do you have your cards scanned anywhere? I'd love to take a look at your collection.

That look on Clemente's face on his 1972 'In Action' card is priceless! Welcome aboard.

Welcome...I will tell you like most told me here take your time to buy nice looking cards....and enjoy the hobby!!!:)

Buying a few books (in my case a LOT of books) truly helps as well...find a few players you really like and pick up a few books about them. So far my favorite 2 books have been about Mickey Mantle and Hank Aaron.

As you can see, this is a very welcoming board. Sounds like a nice Clemente collection. He was, and still is, my favorite player. Maybe you could add a pre-war Pirates right fielder, or 2, or 3.
