Thanks guys.

And Jeff I think we all hope to show off what we get at your auction next month.

pawpawdiv9 03-15-2018 02:25 PM

Thanks guys. It is a very slow time for me right now. I am hoping my consignment @ LOTG does well, so it can lead into another purchase maybe or down the road.

Very pleased with the look of this one in-person. Ends a long personal quest for this card.
A number of good Net54'ers bid on this card as well. If it ever leaves my collection, it'll come straight to the BST. Gotta keep it in the family!

I've never even been to Cuba. Second generations get lazy. I only visit n54 on my phone, so I think that's where the issues arise. Only photos from my "Layout" app download on here.

I can almost assure you it is in fact your phone that is the issue. I think the forum kind of goes along my lines of thinking on phones, we both hate them. We say to get a computer and get off of your phones!!

Thanks guys. JC, there are 6 graded by SGC and 3 by psa. The Novelty cutlery I posted next to it is a bit more coveted and rare. The novelty cutlery Cobb/Wagner has 3 graded by PSA and 1 by SGC. They are EXTREMELY tough, and I was lucky to get both (on different occasions) from the grand purveyor of all things rare, Kevin Struss.
Jason, that Addie Joss looks better than a 5. If I didn't see the flip, and was told it was an 8, I would believe it.

Jeff, if you don't know, there is a zero percent chance that I will. All I know is that it is a defined set from a defined year and is comprised of great looking rare cards.

They are great looking postcards. I've been trying to solve the mystery of who produced them forever.

Thank you, Jay. Yeah, he went from "The Kid" which brought about child labor laws to being just about destitute to a TV human light socket.

A lot of members assisted in making this card happen. Thank you Chad, Tom, Chuck, Luke, and Ron for all of your work, diligence, and flexibility. I really appreciate it!

This makes 8/11 for the Kling back run with all 5 difficult backs in hand.

Thank you again, fellas!

1912 Portsmouth PC with Southworth

Haven't had a solid pick-up in a few months...this one certainly qualifies. It's a 1912 Portsmouth Cobblers Team PC with HOFer Billy Southworth and it's pretty much the nicest and clearest image on a postcard I've ever seen:

Would be nice if we make a monthly sticky post. With top 3 pickups of the year as part of the sticky. The Ty Cobb back and Mr. Plank would be #1 and 2...

Thanks everyone. I am beyond excited. I have been after one of these for about a year now; I have been the underbidder on almost every Plank at auction since middle-2017 (always the bridesmaid...), and have been unsuccessful in a few private deals. But everything works out for the best, because, in my opinion, this Plank is a remarkable specimen and was worth the wait. Attached is a picture of the back. The stain up top is from a sticky hinge that used to hold the card to an album. IMO it does not detract from the back, and, really we are buying the Plank for the front/picture, right? I also like it because I know its history - it was owned by Brian Goldner for the past 28 years (JujuDrum on this forum) and Barry Halper before that. God willing, this card will not see another owner for many decades.

As an aside, I love that I can share this here -- my wife and friends either think I have a screw loose or they dont care....
