1930's card lot potential purchase.

Looking to purchase a nice vintage collection of 1930's cards and misc items.

I'm not really familiar with the value of the exhibit cards in the collection. Trying to put together a fair offer to purchase the lot. What are your thoughts?

Those are mostly Goudey Premiums. Some have some good value but most are in the sub 25 dollar range. Still, some have more value and there are some with Ruth too...

What set are the large Hank Greenberg cards from? I haven't seen them before

Depending on size they look like R314 wide pens. All of those series shown are in that area...

I would also look at the other series between R311-R314

Thank you for the information Leon. As it turns out they are 1935 R309-2 Goudey Premiums. The size is 5 1/2" x 9".

The Greenberg I looked at, mistakingly, was the one near the bottom of the pics and is probably R314D.....right above the team cards. Congrats on some of them being R309-2s as they are quite scarce and can be fairly valuable.

Nice lot. Please dont continue storing those cards in ziplock bags. :D

Pepper Martin postcard

Can anyone identify the Pepper Martin postcard ?

if they are glued in or have residue/stains on back that would affect the value quite a bit....the 2 large Greenbergs are nice....could be worth 200-300 each if in vg or better grade

Great lot there - including an early Bobby Doerr issue...not sure if it would constitute his RC, but definitely early.

Very nice lot!

I see R311 Glossy, R313, R314 Type 1 (1936-Regular) and 4 (1937-Creamy), R309-2, 1933 Goudey, 1934 Goudey and 1936 Goudey (R322).

Value is extremely condition dependent. Could potentially be worth well over $1000 total if they are nice enough... in particular, the R309-2 Greenbergs, the 33 Goudey Hornsby, and the R311 Glossy Dean and Greenberg.

I purchased this lot. Let me know if anybody is interested in any of the cards.

That was a fairly good bit of different types in that lot. Let us know how it comes out for you, in general, if you can? I am sure the R309-2s should do good as well as some others shown. Finding lots like that are what keeps it fun for a lot of us...
I am in the camp that if you know what things are worth more than the next guy selling them, and have done the research, you should reap the rewards of your time. Others see it differently and that is ok too, it's America. And of course, the Grandfather of US Card Collecting, JR Burdick, disliked anything to do with valuation. But I think over time he caved in a little bit. That was always his biggest dislike of the maturing hobby in the 1930s - early 1960s....
