I’m working on a full-blown PSA slab made entirely of cards that will be finished this fall (different card), but I have to share this setup a client just sent me. Having 4 of the 15 slabbed copies of this Star Cal Mantle attached to the work is just beautiful. I don’t have the exact measurements, but knowing how tall the art itself is, this one must be around 4 feet tall:

Back from the National! I really enjoyed getting to meet several of you while working in Chicago, and look forward to meeting many more next year in Atlantic City. I told members of the boards I would post my progress of the Trout that I was working on at the show - so here it is:

cool to see the process in progress!
EDIT: WAIT, I just had a brilliant idea of what to do with all the altered cards from the scandal. Did you ever find yourself wanting to work with vintage cards??? |

10 years ago, I created a crude, concept T206 Wagner from cut baseball cards, which is what started me on this journey. I finally landed the opportunity to work the Wagner again, only this time I was able to give it the attention and skill set it deserves.
SOLD. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f1ac49ce_z.jpg |
Finished another. 1949 Jackie Robinson. Measures just under 25" x 30"...Also, if anyone is interested in reading more about my work, there was a nice inclusion in SMR for this month's issue: https://www.psacard.com/articles/art...nto-modern-art

I continue to be amazed every time I check out this thread!
Unbelievable talent. |
Trimmed!!:D
Beautiful piece(s), Tim:) |
If memory serves me correctly, you had/have work in Cooperstown, correct?
Has the Hall of Fame itself ever reached out to you to commission anything? Your talent is so unique and unbelievable, I could easily see you becoming a staple in marketing for the hobby/baseball/sports. |

My latest 2 pieces:
Banksy's Girl With Balloon (30" x 40") https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...c611b1d5_z.jpg 1958 Mission Orange Mickey Mantle: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...4ddfcd78_z.jpg Also, it was a great feeling to hear Baseball Hall of Fame curator John Odell's thoughts of the Koufax piece that is in the Shoebox Treasures exhibit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv9KhBFUfy4 Tim |
Tim I have to say I get excited whenever this thread bumps. I know I'm going to be treated to something that has nothing to do with any of the negativity in the hobby right now, and man is that a good feeling.
The power of art. Scott |
can't wait for the next post in this thread...:D
|
Tim,
Have any of the subjects seen your work? If so what was the reaction? |

Thanks for the stories. Very cool to have gotten commissions that way. As for the Bo story, well I'll say it again, the power of art.

Great work Tim! Love seeing all those cut up '89 Fleer cards being used to create this piece! Junk wax used to make a junk wax gem.
|
Tim,
I hope this doesn't screw you up too badly, as I imagine this is a commission piece, but there's a curse word on the knob of the bat... |

A couple more down. Biggio was a commission (some fun news about that one later), and Lajoie was one that I've just worked on sporadically for a couple of years until it was finally finished today.
1993 Studio Craig Biggio (entire setup will be between 6 and 7 feet tall after final framing is done): https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...998b072b_z.jpg T206 Nap Lajoie With Bat: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...252e2eb9_z.jpg |

Finished this 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan commission yesterday:
https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...a2706f20_z.jpg I also have been working a few images of celebration (love the emotion!) lately. Here are the 2 pieces I finished just before that 86 Fleer Jordan: Tom Brady: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...65be383c_z.jpg 1991 NBA Finals Michael Jordan: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...fcca702f_z.jpg |
very cool Tim - the Wagner hangs over my right shoulder in my office - which is fantastic given the new amount of video conferences. It must have been mentioned 50+ times by now on business calls.

Just ridiculous, absolutely f_cking ridiculous. Your new nickname is Leo-card-o da Vinci.
