Starting 1947 Dodger Ticket Run

Anyone have any 1947 Dodger stubs they are willing to part with? I'm trying to gather the whole season ticket run. Thanks guys! Pm me

That first ticket is gonna be murder!

Good luck. You could just get the 1974 run of Dodger tickets and then claim you're dyslexic.

Thanks a lot.

I'm gonna take the next 20 years to complete the full ticket run from 47-55 yearbook run and card run. Wish me luck !!

I'm doing a1971 Pirates run. The first 50 or so we're easy. I have not added another one in a year despite developing a network and DAILY searches. I gotta believe 1947 Dodgers would be even tougher.

I started out collecting McGwire's HRs from #60-#70 in 1998. Then I collected all of them from 1998. Then I started to collect ALL of his HR tickets. Everytime the buying frenzy dies down I start a new collection! I moved to all of Jim Thome's HRs. Then Adam Dunn. Then Denny McLain 1968 wins, then Carlton 1972 wins, then Rickey Henderson stolen bases in 1982, then 3 homerun games, then Oakland A's 20 game win streak, then Randy Johnson wins, then Ichiro hits in 2004. It never ends. Its a horrible addiction! But its the chase that gets you. Be prepared to wait a LOOONNg time to finish any collection. I'm 16 years into my first one and still need 25 stubs to finish. I know Scott Garner is into his Ryan stub collection probably twice that long.

Different, but slightly related, I have scored programs from :

44 of Jackie's 151 games played in 1947

95 Los Angeles Dodger games in 1958

36 Maris & 28 Mantle homers in 1961 (and the game where they each lost one)

21 of 59 games where the Dodgers infield of Garvey / Lopes / Russell / Cey played together in 1973

198 of 405 Career appearances by Koufax including postseason

Geez, I'm as nuts as Randall.

Doug

WOW yea i can imagine. I think this will be fun!

are tickets worth grading? If it is not a full ticket what is the highest grade they can even get?

For me they are.

I have no interest in unscored programs. I like to "watch" the game thru the pen / pencil of the original owner. Coke stains, scribbles, notes, clippings, folded to stick in their back pocket, it all adds to the story.

I really don't particularly like grading. If its for yourself why bother? A stub can still be a 10 but its listed as a stub. But tickets were meant to be handled and they grade them as tough as cards so you rarely see high grades. I have seen stubs that looked perfectly acceptable in my estimation get graded as Poor 1. I feel that would detract from it.

The opening day game is also Jackie's debut. I have seen very few of those and they are probably a 5 figure ticket or close to it.
