J. DeBeer ball

2 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
Just came across this baseball and I guess it is fairly rare. The only marking on the ball is "College League". Above those words in inscribed the manufacturer which I find to be J. DeBeer. I believe I found info that this ball is from 1900 to 1910, but not much else.
Your opinions please.

Vintage Baseball Guide

There has to be some sort of guide to identify vintage baseballs, does anyone know of one? I would definitely purchase one if available.

You can identify some balls here but it is far from complete. http://keymancollectibles.com/balls.htm

Thank You Cedar,
I did see that site, that is where I obtained the little information I have. The color threads indicate before 1938, and without the sons mention as a maker, I would assume prior to 1916 I believe was the year he included the "and son" onto his makers signature.
With this ball being from the College League, how must interest would there be compared to one from the Major Leagues?

One other question, there were also available, both with no makers labels. Both very old as one almost appeared home made. Bat had fat handle and smaller knob. The other was a much thinner bat and not much of a knob on the end. With no markings on the bats, I know they have some value, probably around $20 to 30 each, I am guessing. I have no pictures to offer.
There was also a few very old softballs, I did not look for any markings on those as I was focused on this ball and other memorabilia that was available.
Is there much interest in softballs as collectibles?

I had 2 full boxes of 12 DeBeers baseballs at one time. They have since been sold. Mine were from the 60's I believe.

jcmtiger,
DeBeer did make baseballs up to about the 1980s.

This ball on the below site is very close to mine, but mine does not have the "Anchor Brand" logo or markings. Nor does it have the model number for the ball.
The J.Debeer signature on my ball, as you can see, touches the stitching on the ball, where the ball on the below site has a space between the stitching and the signature. The below site contends that it was manufactured between 1900 and 1910. Color of stitching is two colored like mine, but I have yellow and white, instead of red and white.
So if this example is correct, then my ball is from just about the same era, give or take a few years.
If anyone can help to zero in the year, I would appreciate the information.
