TPG question, plus SGC grading specials

Hello ... I'm kind of new to grading so I have a couple questions.

Do the TPG companies weigh OC card back's as sensitively as OC card fronts? For example, if I had a 63T Rose RC and the front was evenly centered, but the back was OC 80/20, would it get a higher grade than if I had a the same card that was OC 80/20 on the front and centered on the back? It's amazing how many vintage Topps cards I see that are perfectly centered on the front, but OC on the back :-)

My other question is ... does SGC still do monthly grading specials for post-war cards for $6 a card? If so, do they usually run that particular special during the same time every year? I have a number of post-war cards I'd like to submit right now, but at $10 a card, I can't afford it. For that matter, I have some pre-war cards I'd like to submit as well. I see that they have a shipping special this month, but at a (25) card minimum, I can't afford that either :-(

Any feedback appreciated. Thanks!

Front centering is much more important than back. You can find the specifics on grading standards on the psa website. Honestly it would have to be absolutely terrible on back for it to affect grade. 90/10 on back does not keep a card from getting psa 9.

They did have a $6 grading special at one time last year. But it may have only been for standard sized cards, because they would not let me send in a set of tobacco silks (just a little larger than T206s) since they would use a non-standard gasket.

The current $7 one is only for 2000 and newer cards. Seems weird since they are not known at all for grading modern cards...

I would reload the page each month until you see the one you want.

Thanks for the replies ... I should have gone to PSA's website first about my grading question because my question was answered right there on their grading page (in regards to back vs front centering). I've been using my old SCD grading guidelines for too long :-) They are kind of out of date since the introduction of 3.5's, 4.5's, etc by the TPG companies. Also ... thanks for the reply about SGC grading specials. I'll just keep going back and checking each month in hopes of them putting on a special for less than $10 a card. As an aside ... after posting my SGC question here I read in another forum that some people were speculating that SGC may not run $6 specials anymore. Apparently they just raised their prices? That would be a shame as it would prevent me from using their services. I prefer the SGC holders for pre-war cards better than the PSA holders, when I'm shopping on eBay. Too bad I've waited this long to submit my own raw cards that I want to get graded :-( Anyway ... thanks for the replies.

If the Rose RC is nice, I would send it to PSA. Just my opinion.

I think SGC is a nice TPG, and I own a number of slabs, but PSA would be the best choice for that card. I believe the 60s is a good starting point to where PSA is more logical than other TPGs.
