Ohtani Redeption Help/Advice

1 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys,
I just recently started collection sports cards again after about a 10 year break.
I recently opened 2 2018 Heritage Blaster boxes that I purchased from Walmart. I pulled a "Real One Autograph Special Edition Parallel" of Shohei Ohtani (ROS-SO).

I have been trying to figure out what this card is. I can't find a redemption like it on Ebay or anywhere else. I'm assuming it's pretty rare? I've not dealt with redemptions before.

My questions are, does anyone know exactly what this card is or do I need to redem it to find out? Does anyone know around how much this card is worth?

If I do decide to sell it should I redem if first and then sell it or just sell the redemption card?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Ryan

I'm pretty sure Real One refers to the red signature cards vs the blue signature.

Yeah, I expect it would be a red auto numbered to 69.

I think that was a five-figure card. Now, who knows.

Redemptions are a gamble simply because they may send it in a month or like one my son just received in March from Panini...2 years later. That is why many sell them unredeemed.

I think Topps is a little better, but don't take my word for it.

With Ohtani, I would personally would probably redeem and sit on it and hope for a good recovery prior to selling because you are going to sell it for hundreds vs four figures prior. If you are a pessimist and don't believe in the recovery, well I would sell it now to those hoping for a recovery. Total gamble either way.

Bummer you didn't hit that a month ago.

Congrats! Nice hit!

Another thing to consider is that the card you receive may have a ding or a signature that isn’t perfect or some sort of flaw. If you are planning to sell it regardless, it might be better to sell the redemption card rather than the card that has already been redeemed. Nobody can complain about a ding or a flaw if they are the ones who redeemed it, but if you have already redeemed and sell it, It opens up the possibility of a return for that.

Thanks for the replies. I was leaning towards it being the red ink auto but I wasn’t sure because of not being able to find other redemptions like it.

I think I am leaning towards redeeming it and holding. I am a collector after all.

Thanks again.
