I'm sure what he should do is keep or sell the unopened pack. But I'm not sure I could resist the temptation. I think it would also depend on if you could figure out what series the pack is, and if the Mantle or Yaz rookie has a chance to be in the pack.

DO NOT OPEN. Cards inside are worth $12. Cards in pack are worth hundreds or thousands.

The gum could be lethal.

I told him a gambling man opens it. Safe play is to sell the graded pack.

Fairly long odds. Not a gamble I'd take personally

1960 Pack

If it`s me, no way I`m going to open that pack. Is there also mention of some sort of drawing for a T 206 Cobb involved with these redemption cards ?

You could always press the front and back of the pack tight to see if you can make out the names on the top and bottom.

Econteachert205 02-22-2017 06:02 PM

sell sell sell

I think there is a lottery for the T206 Cobb for the people who get these type of finds. Not sure how many there are

I'd tell him to record opening it and post it here, but that's just me living through him cause I'd open it cause I'm a gambling man.

GAI was pretty solid for pack grading... Looks like an older label also. I wouldn't worry.

He posted the pack on Ebay.
Hopefully he wins the Cobb lottery.

I am just really starting to venture into Vintage, and haven't even started to look at packs. Is it apparent if these packs were opened and resealed? I would imagine it is easy, and pretty easy to fool a company like GAI also.

packs 03-17-2017 06:12 PM

I don't know the nuances of detection but I think GAI was the first of the TPG's to get into sealed packs and I remember their reputation being pretty good at the time.

Unless the money from the sale is going to better your quality of life, just open it. That way you won't be wondering what might have been inside.

jfkheat 03-26-2017 07:30 PM

It sold for $700.
