I 'm thinking $600 to $800- but you never know with ebay
sent you a pm

Your link isn't working when I try it. Here's the link you posted on the memorabilia side, which still works:

In the real world, a $500 minimum bid for an SGC 40 brown Hindu Lajoie portrait is very fair.

In the world of eBay, where many sellers value their cards at three times what they're worth, that minimum bid for that card is almost unheard of.

My prediction is the card will receive a few more bids in the closing minutes.

It does have a reserve that hasn't been met. Very nice card though.

Oops, didn't realize there was a reserve. (Was preoccupied filling out my form for nominees of the Most Important Collector award.)

I think that it's about a $500 card give or take a few bucks....not to tell you how to sell, but when people see a card that is about worth what the current bid is at and it hasn't met the reserve, then they tend to back off dramatically.

One way would be to lower the reserve and hope that you get a couple of bidders willing to give it a go and then competition sets in and possibly drives it up to your level that you want.

you will lose bidders when you shill your own auctions...this wont fool too many bidders

dennis 03-26-2010 08:06 PM

but all it takes is one fool!!!!

I resent that.

Shill bidding is a NO NO:eek: Shame shame.:(

ChiefBenderForever 03-26-2010 08:36 PM

Where theres a will, theres a shill !!

I wouldve bid higher than the winning bid had it not been for the numerous red flags. First, I'm guessing your inquiry is really just an advertisement? And the fact that this card happens to be your first sale on eBay....and some 1 feedback person bidding numerous times on your auction. A scan also wouldve been worthwhile. For scan advice, ask Bruce Dorskind....

It's a shame...I really wanted the card.

thanks for your concern about shilling my auction, but it didnt happen i came looking for guidence from some knowledgeble collectors since i am not savy in this realm (not a collector) and had some help. as far as being my first auction yes its true but we all start somewhere and i also posted 5 other cards, wheres the shilling??? i have 33 more cards out getting graded that are going up next , the cards are from a debt collatoral collection and have another lot coming in including a couple christy mathewson silks, i will post collection on bst sub forum for your consideration since i think there might be some real interest here. its already been proved by the acusations of my actions being less than genuine
BTW for those who didnt follow auction it sold at 1009.99

This is why we thought that. A bidder with 1 feedback and 100% bid rating with you is the biggest Red flag there is. It makes people shy away and stay away.

Hope you are right and this is not true but.......

Ladder7 03-27-2010 07:53 PM

I realize how the (1) guy could be the shill.

But what I find vexing is who really _wants_ to win it with a bid of 999.99?

Mikehealer 03-27-2010 08:48 PM

Hi Steve
I did want it and that was the most I was willing to pay. Congrats to the winner.
Thanks
Mike

Hi there, I would suggest setting your camera at a different level for your upcoming auctions. The picture is to dark, try for a better picture.:)
