Postwar Topps Trivia Question

Willie Mays and Hoyt Wilhelm appear in both the 1952 and the 1972 Topps sets. 1953/1973, just Willie Mays. In the Postwar Topps sets (1952-1980) just about every year there have been sets that include at least one guy who appeared on a regular issue Topps card 20 years later. The questions:
  1. One set had 8 guys that appeared on Topps cards 20 years later. Name the set and players.
  2. Name the only set that doesn't include a player that appeared on a Topps card 20 years later.
  3. 1959 only had one guy that appeared on a card in 1979. Name him.
We are talking about regular issue player cards; not Highlights; not special issue cards; not manager cards.

If we're limiting it to cards from 1952-1980, I would guess 1958 is the only set with no player appearing 20 years later, as I can think of players that would disqualify the other sets (except 1979, for now, which you stated has one player from twenty years prior)

3. Ron Fairly

Ron Fairly is correct in regards to 1959/1979. I thought that would be the tough question.
1958 is correct as the only set without a player on a card 20 years later.

My first guess was going to be Jim Katt but his rookie card came a year later. When I looked over the rookie cards from the '59 set and saw Fairly, I knew it had to be him.

The set with 8 guys that have cards 20 years later is 1965. Name 8 the guys from that set that have regular issue cards in the 1985 Topps set.

Steve Carlton
Phil Niekro
Rusty Staub
Pete Rose

Those are all I know.

8 Players from 1965...

Who are in the 1985 Topps set...

Steve Carlton
Tony Perez
Joe Morgan
Tommy John
Phil Niekro
Pete Rose

Can't think of any others off the top of my head.

Those 6 plus Staub from the previous post are all correct. That's 7 out of 8. The last guy was tough; surprised that he was in the '85 set. Anyone?

And Tug McGraw along with the intersection of Keith and Erics contributions.

Thanks Jim, I was baffled.

There were several players who had manager cards in 1985 but I could not figure out the last player.

Yes, true he did. But, it was for player cards only.
