Master set question

Does anyone have a good link for getting an accurate master set of particular players. I collect both Stan Musial and Pee Wee Reese cards and was wondering about some of the more less known (but still possible to get) issues. Any help and or advise would be appreciated.

Master Lists

If you go to the PSA site and then to their baseball registry section they have master checklists for both sets and players. I am not a graded collector but their master lists are a good starting point for what is out there

I am working on the Mantle master set. I used PSA's master set as a starting point then supplemented it in two ways. First, I went in to PSA's population report and searched for Mantle by name. Some of the rarer cards are not included in the PSA master set but can be found there (note, some of the multi-player cards will appear in the master set but not in the population report). Second, I went through the Sports Collectors Digest and viewed every entry from the relevant years for Mantle. PSA does not grade certain issues, and this was the only way to supplement the list. It might seem like a bit of a hassle but I really enjoyed getting to study the different card issues.

Despite all of this legwork, I am still finding new cards and variations, some through Al's incredible, yet costly (for me) knowledge of vintage Topps.

Here's a link to the Musial Master set:

and here is one to the Reese basic set (no master set for him):

I would also encourage dialogue with Mike Mosier of Columbia City Collectables - he has probably forgotten more about "odd and rare" issues than most collectors will ever know. Get a copy of the Standard Catalog of baseball cards and peruse for sets that either appear in. Do a saved ebay search for both players names. Hope some of that helps.
