Podcast featuring my Mays collection

For the prewar purists - Apologies for posting on the main page. Hopefully you'll forgive my impertinence, since this is technically postwar.

But for anyone wanting to see a podcast featuring some of my collection, including lots of rare oddball pieces, you might be interested in this podcast episode:

For anyone who watched, and wanted to know more about the issuance of the 1956 Topps Pins, apparently they were issued in boxes of candy-coated bubble gum.

Lelands auctioned off some boxes a few years ago, with pics here:

Thanks to Fred McKie for sharing the link with me last night.

Very cool indeed. Love your enthusiasm

Thanks for sharing your Mays collection.
I enjoyed looking at all the pictures too.

The small peek in to your collection was amazing. Thank you for sharing. You should def do some more YT videos to show more of your collection.

This is Matt, the Aaron collector Theo had on previously. The Jell-O box on eBay is amazing. Maybe one day if these auction houses would stop tempting me and wallet…

Watched tonight, great video. Enjoyed all the issues.

Great job Nicolo!!

Great to see some of your favorites! Great to see you introduce many to items they would likely never have had the opportunity to see! Bravo.

Loved the video Nicolo.

Made me pull out my 52 Mays to check the centering. (pretty good centering, but still a psa 1 ::)

Looked at all my mays cards again while I had the 52 in hand :) interesting to see the 61 ( If I remeber correctly) you showed was the same image as 69 topps deckle .

Thanks for sharing !

Yep, the “61” dice game does use the same image as the 1969 deckle edge. My understanding is this element is one of the reasons why the dice game was finally concluded to be a Topps production.

This podcast was awesome. Thank you so much for pointing it out. I’ve never considered Registry for a certain player or grouping, but this was such a cool episode. I started putting my toe in the water looking at what I might want to attack as a new avenue of collecting.

Player collecting is certainly a fun approach, and tends to open you up to a lot of new and exciting oddball issues. Personally, my main focus is on player collecting, although on the side I also dabble in collecting some smaller oddball sets just because you need something to keep you in the hunt while you're waiting for impossible to find items from your player sets to surface.

Obviously no one else seems all that motivated to buy the 62 Aaron Jell-O box. So it will probably be waiting for you, whenever you decide you're ready to pull the trigger.

Gorgeous Collection Nicolo.

That's where all the nice Mays stuff is:D:D:D

Big fan of Theo and his channel. Don't make it the last time.;)

JustBradd 04-11-2024 02:04 PM

Great collection and fun to see you talk about each one!

You mention having pictures of most of your Mays' on the PSA registry, let me say that is VERY helpful for an aspiring Mays Master Set collector when comparing different years or issues.

Great show; now I know what my missing Mays cards look like.

Harliduck 04-14-2024 12:12 AM

Awesome...thanks for sharing. The 61 Dice Game is by far my favorite of yours...love the image, and the history. My personal favorite Willie card is my 54 Topps, a work of art...much like a lot of his cards. Enjoyed!
