NYY-Dodgers Picture Packs

Posted By: OldYank
I have picture packs from either 1955 or 1956 from Yankees and Dodgers. Each pack has 12 5x7 photos. The packs are in orig. envelopes that are glued together. I was told they were probably sold that way during world series. I cannot find these catalogued anywhere.

Anybody have any info on these?

Posted By: Nickinvegas
OldYank-
If they are the same ones I have seen they were never sold to the public. They were given to the press and as give aways at minor league stadiums. I will have a few signed copies of these photos in our next auction.

Regards,
Nick Martinez
americanmemorabilia.com

NYY-Dodgers Picture Packs

Posted By: Paul
I have the 1956 Dodgers and the original envelope. They sure look like they were sold to the public. I believe there is even a price on the envelope. I have also seen a single envelope containing both the Dodgers and Yankees from 1956, with the logos of both clubs on the envelope. I suspect these were sold during the World Series, and perhaps during the following season. The Dodgers are catalogued in the Standard Catalog under "B" for Brooklyn.

NYY-Dodgers Picture Packs

Posted By: hankron
I'm not an expert on the Picture Packs, and different issues may have been used differently. However, I know that most were sold to the public and some were given to the press. If you see an old-time sports writers collection or the archives of an old newspaper, you will often find these types of photos in with their wire photos and such.

So if someone claims his dad bought a pack at the stadium, he's probably right. If someone says the baseball team gave the photos to his dad because he was a sports writer, he's probably right.
