RSVP - 8th Annual 2009 Net54 National Dinner- Thurs, July 30, 6pm -12am

This is the official RSVP thread for the 2009 Net54baseball.com National Dinner. <HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->
As the Title says the Net54 National Dinner will be Thursday July 30th, from 6pm until 12am at the Sheraton Cleveland Airport Hotel. It is one of the closest hotels, if not the closest, to the Convention Center. There are buses that go back and forth about every 30 minutes, if I remember correctly. We will be having beef and chicken fajitas this year along with rice and beans and some horse duvers (sic)....Along with that we will have our usual long list of cold beverages. We have at least most of it sponsored, and most likely all of it, so don't worry about the money aspect of the Dinner.

It is very, very important that you RSVP either in this thread or send me a private email to leonl@flash.net.
IF you DO NOT RSVP there is a good chance you won't be able to come to it. I have to have good numbers for the catering and to know how many bartenders to have etc....I want your first and last name please as I will be making a spreadsheet and it makes it easier to keep track.

Spouses, young ones and friends can come too but I HAVE to have an RSVP for them as well. As with anywhere there is plenty of cold ones, there could be some adult language, so please take that into account for the youngsters attending. The previous years we've had children attend and I haven't heard anything too terrible from their parents. Also, there will be the mandatory wearing of little paper name tags at the Dinner, as we have done before. They will be at the door on sign in. This helps me to not forget any of my good friends names :). The later in the evening the more that happens. I think it's an alcohol phenomenon. There will be some speakers but the list is still being ironed out. You can post questions in this thread or email me....it's pretty easy though....you come over, eat, chat, drink.....go back to your living quarters. The last several years there have been about 20-30 people left for the last call (at around 11:40pm) out of the 125+ attendees....and I think a good time has always been had. I am a little biased but the Dinner is usually my highlight of the National. best regards

Leon,

I've been waiting for this thread for about a year. :D
I will be there for sure. I would not miss it for the world. This is definately the very best part of the National experience. I would recommend everyone to attend this dinner, even if you don't spend much time at the show itself.

Thanks,
Alan

Taking my granddaughter to Tulsa to see "Wicked" that weekend. I'll definitely be there next year after missing last year because of a car wreck. I look forward to seeing my fellow hobbyists and collecting friends more than the cards. :D

My partner in true form....getting more drink tickets....I really should have just given him a roll of them as it would have been more efficient that way.

ps....Jeff P- we will start you off with a half a dozen tickets and go from there....

Never trust a skinny chef! Just had a look at your 2008 National report, Carlton. Simply awesome!
Unfortunately my dance card is pretty full this summer here in Hellhole Hawaii so will not be attending the Cleveland National. I am bummed. Both the missus and I are gung ho Baltimore. Can't wait. Put us down for dinner for two in twenty-ten.

timn1 07-09-2009 03:52 PM

two more

Hi Leon,

Tim Newcomb and Mike Peich will be there--

Matt E. 07-09-2009 03:59 PM

Please put me down for two; my son, Turner, and I look forward to attending.

Brian Weisner 07-09-2009 04:00 PM

Hi Leon,
I wish I could make it.... But I'm too damn busy...
Have a blast. Be well Brian

PS Split up my 12-15 drink tickets between Scott, Scott, Jeff, and Joe....

tbob 07-09-2009 04:14 PM

Tim- you and Mike need to hoist one for me in my absence :( I will see you both in 2010. Say hello to everyone for me and especially Jimi and Bryan and tell them they better be in Baltimore. DMcD, glad you will be in Baltimore, I've been waiting to meet you for a long time in person.
Carlton- those pictures were incredible! If I didn't feel bad enough about missing out on the National, now I feel really bummed. I hope you get loads of pics this year and how about one of the whole Net54 gang, a group shot with names so we can place names and faces?

Leon, Rhys & I will be attending the dinner. Also, as the resident Mormons in the group, we won't have much use for the drink tickets, so Jeff can have a few on us.

Dinner and drinks

Leon,

Since Rhett and Rhys don't partake in adult beverages, and since Tim N. has displayed (photographically) his need for beer, Tim and I will, with great pleasure, accept R & R's generous offer.

See you all soon, although T-Bob we'll miss you.

Cheers (pun intended),
Mike

a friendly bump

Including private email RSVP's we are at about 80.......Will we get to 100 this year? My guess is we will come close but with the economy and everything going on, it looks like more drink tickets for those that attend!! Keep the Leland's guesses coming in.....there are a few pretty good ones so far.....but I don't think the competition will be too many in number....
