Is this a card?

[I put this in the wrong section, so have re-posted it here]

Is this a card, or just a printed photo that happens to have a black border around it, cut out of a page in an old Lajoie Baseball Guide?

One of 35?

The description says something about an insert sheet?

I guess what I am getting at is whether it was actually separate from the book, or was part of the book, like this cut out

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1901-Reach-B...4AAOSwi0RX0bcV

which I really don't consider an individual item.

It's cut from a Reach, Spalding or similar guide. Not a card, a photo cut from a book. Worthless in my opinion.

Yes, cut from magazines or other periodicals and rarely worth much...although a few of the cuts (not these, that I have seen) will bring a few dollars if they have J. Jackson etc....I picked a Pelicans one for around 6-8 bucks some years ago to go with a larger premium I had..

This always causes a back and forth when the cuts are brought up, but I am in the same boat as Tony on them.

I personally think they turn something that was collectible (IE a Reach or Spalding guide) into junk. :(

This is one of those sellers looking at his listings that just cuts up vintage guides and sells the snips. If it makes for a neat display, I can see it pleasing folks but the prices some people pay for things that are intrinsically worthless makes me think these sellers are snowing folks into thinking these are real cards which I find very deceitful. Especially when it's a seller that puts them in a screw-down with a sticker labeling it with some description and grade.

Please collect what you want, this is just my opinion. I just would warn folks that these items do very much fall into the "it's worth the personal value to you, not a real value" category so pay accordingly.

I think your comments fall under the "caveat emptor" premise, of which I am in agreement..

I've collected a few newspaper Sports Stamps, and even had them put in holders, but they at least were intended to be cut from the paper and collected. Some of these guys who just cut up a guide or other book into a bunch of little "cards" is a little absurd. Or it's a little absurd that someone buys them.
