Help to Identify Old Original Baseball Team Photo

2 Attachment(s)
I have an original old baseball photo - the name on the team shirts is "Grant". The picture looks to be early 1900's. Does anyone know anything about this?

Thanks.

There are 8 or 9 states with town names of Grant. Without some kind of markings on the mount or provenance you probably will never be able to identify the photo.

Any idea what something like this may be worth? Thanks.

Assuming it's about a 5x7 and there isn't further significance related to the team identification, about $25.

Upon closer inspection, there is a studio name on the mat. It reads:
"Graham, Ida Grove, Iowa". Does this help anyone to identify this better? Thanks.

Grant, Iowa is 87 miles from Ida Grove. Grant probably didn't have a photographer so they probably got their photo taken before a game with Ida Grove. I have a Mason City, NE baseball team photo from 1897 that was taken in McCook, NE...probably under the same circumstances.

I just love old photos like this - a real piece of history.

So Joe...this is where it gets to be fun for you as the owner. You have now successfully pinned down the location of the photographer and the likely town that the team played for. Look up the county in which Grant, Iowa, is located and call the local historical society. Since it's likely a small community, more often than not they will be as excited to help track down the details of the team and the players...PLUS they'll be able to add that bit of history to local lore. You get the closure you're seeking, and the locals in Iowa will benefit from your discovery for eternity. The descendents of the players might still be living in the area, too! Now THAT'S what makes this hobby so fulfilling!

Congrats on your pick-up!
