1921 Herpolsheimer's Babe Ruth Find in a Bandaid Box

Didn't see another post on this...I apologize if it's a duplicate. Seeing quite a few finds recently and I don't see them ending. I've heard people say that everything has been dug up...no chance. Remember; this isn't an old car in a barn that takes up a lot of space. These are tiny little boxes (or in this case, a Band-Aid box). Love seeing this stuff come out!!

Congrats to Al over at LOTG for getting this one. Any early predictions on Ruth sales price?

Nice article about the find in the provided link. Apparently there are now 78 or 79 known Herpo's known...it seems likely there are 1 or 2 more possibly to be discovered to make this set 80 cards.

I would come across a box such as this one, and I would be lucky enough to find band-aids in it. Probably used ones at that.

I know. Here comes the flack to me. One set of Herpolsheimer I will gleefully avoid.

This find was posted about in a prior thread.

Congratulations to Al on getting this group. I’m sure he will do a great job for the consignor.

Wow. Awesome Al, congrats!!!

So glad to see these are being sold by LOTG.

Attaboy Al. This set is intriguing, as it seems to further connect Felix Mendelsohn to cards issued in 1920-21. I look forward to the write-up. As I recall, the patriarch died in 1917 and the son in 1920, leaving one of the adult grandchildren to operate the business but with the estate and/or other related issues leaving Herpolsheimer in a state of flux. This might explain that the 1921 issue was not a high priority to the department store’s plans or that family members disagreed on its use for marketing purposes.

I want to bid on the Band Aid box.

Dibs on the Pete Alexander and Johnny Evers.

It will be fun to watch the Ruth, and that's all I'll be doing, unless I win the lottery between now and then.
(I don't play, btw)

Two years ago I bought a 50 yo metal Boy Scout first aid kit that still had the contents. The neosporin was leaking. it is on display with my Boy Scout stuff. I was an Eagle Scout. I've got my dad's boy Scout book from the late 50s, and my great grandpa's 48 star flag - down over the capital - that he received for his own Eagle Celebration.

I saw the Tris Speaker. Not bidding on it, but it'll be neat to see the final price.
