Puckett early auto

1 Attachment(s)
A friend of mine obtained this Puckett auto early in his rookie year. I was wondering if the team here thinks it would pass a PSA certification... or any thoughts of legitimacy you think?

I'm going to say NO based on the 'K'. It is very rare for someone to completely change from an innie to an outtie. That being said, if anyone has a verified "early rookie year" signature that proves otherwise, I'd be very interested in seeing it. It is rare, but not out of the question.

BTW, I don't like the 'irby Puckett' either. :)

I like it, sloppy but good

I know that this isn't an answer to what your asking (or maybe it is, tangentally), but it doesn't look like that is a legitimate autograph.

I received autographs in person from Kirby from 1984 to shortly before his death and I am almost positive it is good. It is definately from early in his career - probably from 1984 but I think it's good. He changed his autograph a number of times throughout his career.

I think it is good as well.

The signature is real. My question is why does it matter if PSA will authenticate it ?

Can anyone post an "early" example?

I'm not an expert but have seen a lot of Puckett autographs being from MN. At quick glance, it does look like early Puckett autos I have seen. I am a little more familiar with his more recent signature. I wish I had some confirmed mid 80's autos to look at as a reference as well. As another poster mentioned, his auto evolved quite a bit through out the years.

Just wanted to make sure when you say obtain you mean he obtained it in person?

cubsfan-budman 11-05-2012 07:11 PM

I stand 100% corrected. I say it would pass at psa

Thanks Ben! Sometimes I need a kick to get down to the nitty gritty!

Like I said, rare, but not unheard of. Huge difference, but no less AUTHENTIC.

This is good and will pass all day and twice on Sunday. I have had many like this and early signatures like this are always good to pick.
