Starr

I just heard that NFL legend Bart Starr has passed away at age 85.

Rest in peace, one of my childhood heroes!
:(

A better man than player.

What?? He was also one helluva a QB, a true HOFer. Your remark makes it sound like he was barely a journeyman QB at best, nothing more. :(

I'm pretty sure that was intended as more of a compliment to Starr as an individual than a slight on his greatness on the field.

Memories From 1962

Bart Starr was always a tough competitor - leadings very good offensive teams in the 1960s. RIP Mr. Starr.

The Packers would typically give my Detroit Lions fits. But then there was Thanksgiving Day of 1962. The Packers came into the game undefeated at 10-0. The Lions were 8-2. Our defense pulled their jock straps tight and sacked Bart Star 10 times — leading Detroit to to a 26-14 victory! And, as a 10 year old, I saw my dad dance around the living room. Memories.

That's what I meant.

Some folks just look for the down-side.

He was a great player, but an even greater man!

How's that?

I wept like a baby when I saw Bart had passed away.
