Current state of the vintage card market
Posted By: runscott
Any thoughts on where we are and where it's heading? I have a bunch of auctions to run, but I'm thinking the vintage market has to improve soon. The odd thing is that I'm not seeing many bargains out there, just fewer decent items for sale.

Posted By: TBob
It all depends on what you are after. I see Vg E94s (no overprints either) going for close to $200 on ebay and HOFers in beat up shape from the T205 set getting EXMT prices. I think it is still a seller's market on caramel cards and certain tobacco sets.

I intend to aSK HIM WHO HE GOT IT FROM TOMORROW WHEN i CALL TO PAY HIM.

Card is due in the morning, so naturally I'm cutting all the things I have to do tomorrow till the FedEx truck arrives. My shrink is used to it. She doesn't like it, but she's used to it.

Meanwhile, if any of you would like to fess up, I'd be glad to listen!

How'd I get it? Everytime I talked to T. Knouse, I said "Mayo Nichiols in great shape" several times. so he couldn't forget.

Posted By: Scott M
I agree with TBOB - there were some very nice E96's last weekend which I couldn't believe the amounts that I bid - also couldn't believe that I didn't win any. E102's and 106's brought high prices for the condition this past week so I would say that someone is paying top dollar. I understand the top condition cards - don't understand the lower grade stuff as its available, just takes a while to track down.

Regards

Posted By: Julie Vognar
The Mayo Nichols came. WAY o/c and...that's all! Otherwise, it's perfect.

He also threw in an A35 Ward, and in spite of there being a miniscule hole in the pigment on the top red band of his hat, and a small amount of paper loss on the back, is charging me $1300 for it. Beautiful card, gleaming white background. Lemke may TELL people that the Goodwin Round Album shouldn't cost much, but I guess they don't believe him. "What is the Standard Catalogue of Baseball Cards 2003?" asks Terry.

Forgot to ask who sold him that Nichols...
