Snider or Reese?

A reader wants to know if this 1950s baseball "charm" pictures the Duke or Pee Wee. Any thoughts?

snider or reese
doesnt look like either of them to me
|
I would say neither
|
I'd say neither, but if it has to be one or the other the answer seems certain to be Reese.

I have a similar charm I thought it might be Lou Boudreau but that doesn`t seem quite right.I asked this question on the old boards about my charm but I can`t remember the names people came up with maybe it was Reese. If there is a way I can search the old forum maybe I can help.Your charm appears to be a close up of the photo in my charm but there is a shadow over the face on mine so I don`t know if they are the same person or not.
|
those two pictures look the same to me, one just appears to be cropped down a bit to fit the charm
|
Thats what I thought but how do you explain the shadow over the face of mine?Is it a separate photo of the same player or just some editing of the photo when it was cropped to a headshot?
|
Neither Snider or Reese...not even close in my opinion.

Played with the contrast and they look like they may be same photo with different croppings.

Bob--
I started a thread about these charms a couple of yrs ago:
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...ghlight=charms At that point I determined the pic you have to be Wally Westlake. I'll let you read the thread & decide! |
certainly doesn't look like either one...
my 3 cents

Thanks for the refresher course, Fred.
So does a Snider exist, or was he a misidentification on earlier versions of the checklist? |
Bob--
Just before I started that thread here on N54 I did a similar one on the EBay Sports Board w/ similar ID results, so of all the info I gathered I'm pretty sure of the ID's of just about all of the charms I have or others pictured.
At this point I do not have a Snider & have never seen one. I also have never seen a Ewell Blackwell or a Jackie Robinson from the cklist. |
Interesting Conundrum
The player (whoever it is) in the photo appears definitely to be in a batting pose (not follow-through) and a left-swinging one at that. That would seem to rule out Reese, who was right-handed. Snider was a left-side batter, but I agree with other posters that it does not look like him. My first impression was Willie Jones, but he was also a righty. Is it for certain that the photo is a Brooklyn player?

Thanks Leon I thought the old posts were brought over. I can`t remember how the post I made on the old board went.I`m just not sure how to dig it up.
Is there a way to search posts with my previous username from the old board?I changed my username when the new board started. The search engine doesn`t recognize my old username. |
I found the thread I was looking for maybe this can help. http://www.network54.com/Forum/15365...nd+what+is+it-
My guess then was Ferris Fain but the other guess Willard Marshall has possibility. |
