Completed: 1887 Detroit Wolverines Old Judge set

Today with a trade with Joe G. I completed the 28 poses of the 1887 Detroit Wolverines Team. The last card that I needed was Charlie Ganzel (catch at shoulder). Thanks to anyone who contributed too this feat. Ironically I traded a card that Joe G. had at one time and traded to me.

Special thanks to Joe G. for many trades and sales, plus helping me learn more about the Old Judge cards.

Still looking for other Detroit player cards pictured with Detroit or other team uniforms.

Thanks Joe

Great job Joe. As someone who collected a team(Pittsburg), I know how tough it is just to get one of each player in the set.

Congratulations!! As a Detroit fan, I envy your accomplishment.

Nice job Joe--now on to the post 1887 poses.

Now it's time to work on that Detroit International Association team set of 5 cards. Does anyone have all 5 of these cards ( I think with 13 total with all poses )?

congrats...that's quite an accomplishment.

Fantastic Joe, Congratulations!!

I know this was a very long pursuit for you. I enjoyed each and every trade we made along the way. Your collection contains some of the hobbies finest Detroit cards including your remarkable Hanlon (pristine image quality and condition). The 1887 Detroit subset is interesting with the stadium backdrop, sequential numbering by Goodwin & Co., manageable at 28 cards, among the easier (more collectable) OJ cards, and of course lines up nicely with their World Championship season. I just wish the 1887 run included Lady Baldwin, Charlie Bennett, Pete Conway, Pretzel Getzien, and Deacon White. But I guess the 1888 Detroit cards are there to keep all of us Detroit collectors chasing these cardboard gems for eternity. Well done!

Congratulations on a job well done!

Hello Mike, I won't post pics of my cards in this thread, but will provide a link to my run of 1889 Detroits (scroll to the bottom of the thread dedicated to the International Association Old Judges). I actually posted 6 different players as I included the Kid Baldwin error. There is at least one other collector with all six Detroits from 1889. I still need a couple player poses to complete all 1889 pose possibilities.

Thanks everyone, don't have scans right now. Some are on a remote backup right now. New computer.

I only have 2 IL Detroit players poses, Campau and Goodfellow.

Joe,

It's good to see someone being able to complete any OJ team set, especially that one.

Has anyone ever tried to complete the ultra difficult Indianapolis team set...you can find just about every card except that Corcoran guy. Why is that?:p

Congrats Joe, Nice feat!!
