Ebay Dilemma - What Would YOU Do???

I sold an EMPTY whiskey bottle on ebay the other day.

There was only 1 bidder and that bidder had been the ONLY bidder for several days. (Can I use bidder 3 times in a sentence?)

The winning bidder paid me immediately.

After realizing that the bottle was EMPTY, the winner demanded their money back AND accused me of manipulating the pictures to make it appear that the bottle was full!

Ebay does NOT allow the sale of FULL liquor bottles and my listing CLEARLY indicated that the bottle was EMPTY.

I contacted ebay who informed me that in THEIR opinion, I had NOT misrepresented anything and that I could choose to keep the money or refund it. (RARELY does ebay side with a Seller!!!)

The money is no big deal, but the insult was uncalled for.

Would you KEEP the money and ship the bottle or refund the money???

If you haven't shipped the bottle yet, file for the cancellation "seller changed mind", and make sure the buyer confirms the cancellation before sending the refund.

It's a lot less complicated and risky to you, and at least you still have the item. Once you ship it out, there's still plenty of ways they can get their money back or make life difficult for you.

No question, cancel the sale and refund. Nothing but a headache coming your way if you ship the item knowing that the winning bidder isn't happy with the item they won, regardless of why.

+1. I'd also block the bidder. Plenty of other buyers on eBay who won't give you headaches.
