Posted By: fkw
The original card from pack is long gone. He is just adding a "Chance" with the opend pack, hence the title. I think some of the bidders didnt figure this fact out.

Posted By: davidcycleback
Rule of thumb for eBay is don't assume something that the seller doesn't say.
If the seller doesn't say the card came from the pack, don't assume it did.
When the card comes from the pack, don't worry, the seller will let you know.

Posted By: Jon Canfield
I emailed the seller on day 1 of the auction to tell him it is IMPOSSIBLE that his box is from 1909, too - and he never changed the auction. It's a disgrace and dishonest. If you notice, the box says Ligget & Meyers at the bottom. Funny thing is, the American Tobacco Company wasn't split until 1911, so its a miracle of science that this box dates from 1909. Also, the ONLY 1911 Piedmonts that had the L+M designation were out of factory 25. So, this box is from 1912-1914, after the t-206 production.

Posted By: davidcycleback
Still doesn't explain the bidding. Even if the Chance came from that pack of
cigs, the price should still only = (value of round courned Chance) + (value
of opened cigarette pack). The same as a shoebox card collection = (value of
cards) + (value of empty shoe box).
