Buy the Card NOT the Holder

Posted By: Patrick McMenemy
This is why many of us laugh at people buying slabbed cards.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31718&item=5120209 523&rd=1

Take a good look at the enlarged scan, and the bottom edge of the card.

And E....Kleinow New York is a tougher card to find than the overhyped Kleinow Boston...Take my word for it!

Patrick

Buy the Card NOT the Holder

Posted By: Morrie
It looks like a diamond cut, to me. I can't tell if the bottom edge is actually wavy (it looks straight enough from the back) or whether it's an optical illusion based on the combination of the lower edge of the little "frame" within the slab and the shadow behind the card, but it looks like the top edge is also at an angle, to me.

Maybe I'm missing the point. Is it just that, as a diamond cut, this would be a gross over-grade, or is the suggestion that this is a trim-job, or is it just that this card is in no way worth that kind of money?

Morrie
...who wouldn't be that interested in either the card or the holder in this case...

Posted By: The Other One (Julie)
...I think...but don't they knock something off for diamond cuts? It's a great card, with the mask and all. I have a Boston Kleinow, with the sky partially erased because there was writing there; got it for about $70...

Posted By: jay behrens
At the the description of "infamous" Harris collection is accurate. Lots of hinky cards from taht collection residing in PSA holders. I thought all the Harris cards were noted as such on the label. I could swear I've seen some label "Harris Collection"

Jay

I like to sit outside, drink beer and yell at people. If I did this at home I would be arrested, so I go to baseball games and fit right in.

Posted By: Gilbert Maines
No, don't give up the beer. Just fine tune the operation:

Sit outside
Yell at people
Drink beer

but add:

Toss the empties
Have them retrieved by young girls
Wearing bikinis

This is not a baseball game tho.

You would have to be the lifeguard at McCovey Cove beach.

Plus you'd get the occasional ball hit out of the park across the way.

Well, I guess the young girls would retrieve that for you too.
