Ebay vs Net54 Auctions?? Opinions please!

I would just like opinions from those who have sold on the Net54 venue, if they were pleased with the auction side of things versus Ebay??? I have won numerous items on there, but never thought about selling on there until recently. As a matter of fact, I have my first auctions up right now. I have really been impressed lately with the prices a few of the last auctions that I've been following have attained.

The only thing I have noticed is the guys that list stuff often get better prices in the auction section in my experience. You can take any type of payment you want, some of us only pay TTM. Transactions are almost always super easy. No fees other than the normal Net54 yearly dues.;) I am sure there are things I am missing but what do you have to lose. You can give stuff away on here just as easy as on eBay.:)

As a buyer I would love to see you and others listing more stuff. I rarely buy anyplace else now.

It's one of those things that works because it is a close community. It operates entirely on trust, which on a large platform like ebay would be a disaster. I've auctioned off everything from reprint sets, to HOF t206's to 40,000 1980's cards and I'm always at LEAST OK with what I've realized. Could stuff do better? Of course, the seller ALWAYS feels that way, but for the most part I am very happy with my n54 auction results.

I've only sold in the auction here a couple times, but it went very well. I've had a couple things not sell, but they were things that really weren't much good at all.

It's much easier than Ebay, far fewer rules and the ones we have are good and don't change every couple weeks.

I suppose there's a chance a better item might bring a bit less, but after you figure on fees it's probably about even.

I've had good and bad luck selling on both in terms of prices realized. If it's a coin flip I'd rather sell here.

I have done ok but be careful. If you have something you don't want less than a certain price for, start it out at that. It is always better to start something low and let it ride. But that only works if you aren't too worried about the item and what it will bring. It's free and there are no restrictions so it's hard to go too wrong. Knock on wood but there are still extremely few issues on our BST where I need to get involved. And lastly, as always caveat emptor so buyer beware.... IF someone has a real low post count it is best to get some references or PM me and I can take a look at the registration and so forth....

Is there a place to post "NON-PAYING BIDDERS" on Net 54? Is there any consequence to bidding on an auction on Net54 and not paying?

What about that famous Cobb seller reverse auction that disappeared....same consequence to bidder or seller......we all say shame on you...and they feel really bad about it and then 'leave the hobby' and they then have to spend the rest of their days selling items on behalf of a friend...

I know if sellers collect money and don't ship product, they get banned....plain and simple. I'll ask Leon about the NPB's.

Well, I would probably PM me first and see if we can get it resolved. If not, then we go from there. There are no restrictions on this board about saying anything you want to (in a civil manner). IF you want to say that I didn't pay for something, fine by me, just have your name next to it. And yes, not paying for something on the BST will get you at least banned from there, immediately, and probably the whole board. Those are black and white rules and it seems there is always some gray in the middle. Recently a guy got the boot for admittedly not paying 8 bucks then, if I recall correctly, acted like it was someone else's fault he got the boot (or the money was no big deal). But my memory is poor and that might not exactly be it. I think it was the gist of it though. All that said, yes, on this board actions have consequences.
