1951 Bowman commons w/ writing

2 Attachment(s)
Picked up some cards and there is a stack of 30 '51 Bowman commons that have writing on the front, back or both. What kind of interest might there be on cards like these and where would be the best place to sell. Any idea on what I might expect to get per card? Attached front and back pics of 4 that are representative of the bunch.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance
Chris

You and me both! Crossing out names and writing different player's names on the back doesn't fall into any sort of logic for me.

I'll preface this by saying I love and collect the 1951 Bowman set. Unfortunately,
People don't pay up for VG-VG/EX commons.... especially with writing. As a 30 card lot on EBay I doubt you would get $25... but who knows. Set a price on BST or take offers and see what happens. Good luck!

I started collecting in 1957 at age 7. I remember in 1959 when I wanted cards I did not have on some team I would sometimes alter a doubles card to be the player I needed. But the Maris modification seems to indicate that was not the case here

This may be a good place to try, although you need to be a member and it isn't a simple sign up and go process from what I have read.

Same thing I wondered after reading Faulkner, who I doubt ever collected cards.:)

let me know if u put on eBay theyre nicer than most ofthe 51 bowman cards I currently have
Though i think the estimate of $30 or so is about right

I agree that u might get more value in return by trading with an obc member u don't have to belong to trade with them. The four or so obcers I have dealt with have been extremely fair in trades probably too generous

Bst - obc

Just stick them on the BST auction on this site and see what happens.

The terrific collectors in OBC (I have been in OBC almost 21 years ) will see them there and bid if we need them (I don’t):D

But if you want to trade, stick them in the 50’s section and offer them up.
You’ll probably get a few bites either way.

51’s

Assuming they are all commons and all low series cards I say $1 a card. You can usually find these in $1 bargain boxes at shows. I am an OBC member and yes we collect cards in this condition. Rick

I went ahead and listed them in the 50's section of BST here. I listed them a little higher than the $30 that's been mentioned here, but included shipping. I posted front and back pics of all 30. Not looking to trade, but would be willing to consider offers. A trade would need to be for a single card or two, rather than a similar lot.

Feedback/comments, positive or negative is always welcome.
