Delong did the gum thing, just ever so slightly before Goudey, I think.

American Caramel was incorporated in 1898, a consolidation of the Breisch-Hine Co of Philly and the PC Wiest Co of York, PA. In 1900 Milton Hershey sold his Lancaster Caramel Co in Mount Joy for $1,000,000 to American Caramel. Hershey, with this cash, moved away from caramels and focused on chocolate, completing a new factory in 1905 at what is now Hershey.

Posted By: leon
Those are very neat but I am not sure too many people on the board collect them. If you open it up to letterhead/ephemera and invoices related to the companies that put out our little jewels you might get a little more response. (well, at least one more person, me...) Nice certificates though...

Posted By: Frank Wakefield
Who on here would pass at picking up a DeLongs stock certificate??? My regret is not buying an 1890s St. Louis Base Ball Club stock certificate... I still shake my head about passing it up and holding the cash. Wish I'd bought it, too, now.

These came from the estate of his nephew who worked for him while in school at Cornell around 1917-1919.

Rhys
