Hall of Famers that were great bunters?

I have a Tony Gwynn (1985 Donruss) that depicts Gwynn bunting. Was he considered a tremenous bunter?

What HOF'er's were superb at laying down bunts?

Mantle had many bunt hits I believe. Carew too.

The first one I think of is Nellie Fox.

I've read that before injuries took their toll on Mickey Mantle, he was the best drag bunter in the major leagues. I've also read about Mr. Fox's prowess at bunting; he was terrific. --- Brian Powell

I know what you mean and I agree about Mantle, but like the Baltimore Chop, the drag bunt has fallen on lean times.

For those unaware there was no "dress" requirement for a drag bunter.;)

Rod Carew was a great bunter as was Pete Rose. I remember people talking about how accurate Lee Mazzilli was at bunting. I also think Ichiro was pretty handy at it.

Best one I've ever seen is Rod Carew.

Though not quite a HOFer, Brett Butler's name should always be mentioned when discussing great bunters.

From what I understand Phil Rizzuto was a great bunter.

When I think of bunting, the name Willie Keeler immediately jumps to mind.

“Keeler could bunt any time he chose,” Honus Wagner remembered.
