SGC regrading question

I have a 1933 green Goudey Ruth graded 7.5 by SGC. Two long time dealers said it was the best green Goudey they had ever seen. I am tempted to have SGC regrade it. My question is whether I should send it in the original holder or break it out. I am concerned that if they see the original grade, they won't want to admit they may have undergraded it. I do have a concern the card might be damaged if I break it out. Does anyone have any experience in something like this?

Thanks!

Send the card in for review in the SGC holder...if it meets the standards for a higher grade, it'll get bumped on review. If it doesn't bump, they'll let you know what they saw that kept it at the SGC 86 level. The risk associated with cracking it out is way too high on a card like that.

Completely concur with Brian. Don't break it out. Do you intend to sell it or keep it? If you're going to keep it then it's really a moot point. If you're going to sell it then let the card sell it self. If it's that nice then people will take notice of it.

Thanks for the advice. I will send it to them in the original holder.

I would set your expectations very low if you send it in for a regrade. In my experience grading companies don't like to admit they were wrong. I'm not knocking them, its just human nature to want to justify a previous decision.

If you are looking to sell it, I would send it in the slab to PSA to see if they would grade it higher. If you are just going to keep it, I wouldn't do anything with it, after all, its the same card, no matter what the label says on the holder!
