I may have asked this before...

At one time, I thought I heard that Topps was honoring Mickey Mantle by retiring the #7 in their sets.

I realize that, at least for a few years after his death, they had a Mantle card as #7 in their sets...but, did they decide to discontinue that also.

Anyone know?

Thanks,
Raymond

They were doing that under a contract agreement with the Mantle family that expired a few years ago. The Mantle family just went under contract with Panini.

That's going to look horrible since Panini doesn't have an MLB licensing agreement, Mick's uniforms won't have the 'NY' insignia.

I don't purchase Panini or any cards that don't show the full uniform, in spite of the fact that it makes even more money for the MLB clubs.

The practice just results in crappy looking cards IMO.
