Would you have this '52 Topps Mantle PSA 6 reviewed ?

Not my card but purchased by our client at a recent Heritage auction. He wants to have it reviewed for a possible bump to 6.5
Here is his link to the auction......Thoughts ?

Beautiful card. The monetary advantage kind of makes it a no brainer at the higher levels of this card. Can it be taken for onsite at the National?

It is in a new holder already. I would say it has been reviewed recently. Doesn't it cost 3k to do It? I would just leave it as is.

Lower right corner might hold it back

Good point but cards can be re-encapsulated without being reviewed. I suggested he contact PSA customer service (and he did) but they won't disclose any information about when the card was graded.
I didn't know the cost was that high to "review" A bit of a gamble

The batches of cards I just got back started with serial numbers 4168 and 4222. It leads me to believe yours was graded recently since it falls between them. If it was re- encapsulated I would think they could use the old number but not 100% sure.

Thanks
You are correct. If they re encapsulate they would use the old number.

great card! Looks like a 5 to me.:p I'd just enjoy it the way it is.

Looks nice as is... if you blow up the photos you can see the issues why its a 6...

jchcollins 02-26-2019 12:33 PM

If flipping the card or making a profit on it is a concern, then I can understand the question - but for me personally...I would not try to fix something that is not broken. Gorgeous card.

It appears to be graded correctly. I think you would be wasting your time and money trying to get it bumped up a grade.

KCRfan1 02-26-2019 07:31 PM

PSA does not issue many half grades, so the card bumping to 6.5 seems unlikely.

My question to you is : What do you see in the card that leads you to believe the card can grade 6.5 from a 6? Where is the half grade coming from?

Beautiful card.

The review is so expensive now that it may not be worth it. I tried once with a 52 Mantle I thought deserved at least a half grade bump. I ended up with a $700 post it note that just said corners.
