What's your favorite beer?
Here are my faves:
Domestic Mainstream: Sam Adams Boston Lager Domestic Microbrew: Abita Turbodog Import: St. Pauli Girl (Green Label) What are yours? |
cold
Cold, unless it's late or after closing time. Then "cold" is not mandatory.
Seriously, if I have my choice I usually just drink a Corona with Lime....if not that, then anything, it's all good. |
a great topic!
Domestic Mainstream: Bud Light
Domestic Local: Grain Belt Premium (Minnesota) Domestic Microbrew: Kilt Lifter Scottish Ale; Mirror Pond Pale Ale Import: Harp; Negro Modelo |
I'm sorta with Leon on this one.
Free and cold free After that I get picky. I don't really have favorites, but for a fairly large domestic beer Sam Adams is what I usually buy. As a gag for a friend I once swapped the picture from a 70's football card of Sam Adams the Pats player onto the label, and patched bits of label onto a card. Us microbrews are another matter, turbo dog is excellent, as is most anything from Gearys. But a lot of the best are very local. Not ignoring the "at that place at that time" effect. Imports are some of my favorites, I have a weakness for most of the Belgian beers, each one quite different from the others, but nearly all quite high in alchohol. usually 7% or more, sometimes much more. If it says tripel on the bottle I'll give it a try. for non Belgians Samichlaus Aas Bock Thomas hardys Traquair Russkoye - Name changed after Chernobyl to something I don't recall, maybe red star? It's Ukrainian, light ish and needs to be served as cold as possible. Those are also ones that really stand out, although Samichlaus needs to be 3 years old or more to be really good. Before that, it's just a 15% dark beer with a tendency to be bitter. And it sneaks up on you - Seriously, after 3 don't even consider walking home, you'll feel like you can until you stand up. Used to be a Miller Swiller, twenty-five years sober now, nothing stronger than a cup of Kona Joe these days. As a treat I liked Sierra Nevada Pale Ale in the domestic category and Pilsner Urquell out of Bohemia, CZ as an import. Both very tasty.

18 yrs without
In long ago days i would concur that my favorite beer was a free beer...but the best answer is probably one i heard years ago...my favorite beer is my next one!!! (answer frequently)
Its not too relevant to me anymore as my sobriety has reached voting age (18) but this is a cool question...i liked Moosehead Canadian Beer and Budweiser. Old Grand Dad bourbon usually made it into play most nights, albeit in shorter glasses. Now i like St Pauli girl N/A , Beck's N/A and HAkkebeck. I think i will go get some this afternoon!! |
favorite 3
St. Pauli
Sam Adams basic lager Black Butte Porter Ahhh! |

|
domestic = Yuengling, all the brands.
Foreign= Gulpener (german) |
Guinness
Magners Cider with ice Beamish when available |
If you ever run across a beer called SkullSplitter, do not drink it.
|
Domestic Mainstream- Sam Adams Boston Lager
Domestic Microbrew- Blue Moon Belgian Wheat unfiltered (not sure if it's still considered a craft beer based on production amounts) Import- Probably Heineken Also, having a Kona Brewing Koko Brown right now... A little sweet with roasted coconut used in brewing. Very easy to drink & nice aftertaste....... |
Founders Breakfast Stout is easily my #1. Runner up goes to the 2011 Imperial Stout from Mayflower Brewing.
|
I haven't drank alchohol since 1998.......but before that, I think I've tried almost everything (almost).
I used to love Coors.....:o But a real treat was "Red Tail Ale" I believe it was out of Mendocino County, California..........man, that's some GOOD STUFF :D Hard stuff.........Jack Daniels * Jim Beam * Jose Curevo * Cheap rotgut wine * Thunderbird* Night Train * Mad Dog 20/20 * (punk rock days :D )............ |
PBR or C-Minus (Coors Light) if I'm imbibing volume. Sierra Nevada, Pilsner Urquell, or Guinness if I'm having one or two. Moving toward the latter as my preferred method.

Dont reallly drink often anymore
but I loved Sammie Smith's Oatmeal Stoudt.

1554 - New Belgium
Their beers make me feel bad for anyone who doesn't live in the mountain west. Then again, Leinenkugels makes me miss the midwest if that's possible |
Rolling Rock
|
I got a one track mind......Heineken
:) |
In a fit of shameless local promotion I gotta go with Ellensburgs' own Iron Horse Brewery; Celtic Death, & Locomotive Stout

Lots of great choices. Just about anything that comes from Belgium is awesome, Most Sam Adams brews are good and in the hot summer few can beat a Corona w/lime.
Onto the worst of the worst ... I nominate Drummond brothers (wonder if they are still in biz). In college a 24 pack cost about $10 and that was about $9.99 overpriced. It tasted like someone fermented the leftover scraps from a deli grill at the end of a busy day --- yummmmmy :) Best, S |
