Yes, Topps cards from the sixties that are severely out of register like those always get interest on eBay. The more extreme the better, and star players like Seaver are even more sought after. I would bid on them if you put them on eBay.

It looks like something Ben would have an interest in....:)

Very cool look to them.

Being they're from the 60s - and the connotation that has - one has to wonder if these cards were printed normally but then went to Woodstock and were forever changed during the summer of love...

Awesome thanks guys!

Any idea what the value to these is?

are we talking $5? or $100 to the right buyer?

Thanks

steve B 04-19-2017 12:14 PM

I've found pricing on errors to be hard to predict. If the right two people see it at the right time they can do pretty well. If not, they don't.

Of course this also depends on whether I'm bidding or not. If I bid 20-25, it'll go for 100 if I want it but don't bid it will usually go for closer to 5 :(

Is the Seaver worth grading you think?

Would that help it at auction?

You are so correct Mr. Wheat.:)

No they are not worth grading. These are cool and if you know the right buyers you can get a slight premium for them. I would say around $3-$5 each on the Pete Ward and Rookie Stars card. The Seaver $10-$25, the $25 is only if you can find a Seaver collector that also collects printing error cards.

There is a very small group of buyers for these type of cards. There are a few of those guys on this forum including myself.

I agree with Ben. They are interesting and probably worth more than another card of the technical grade, but you have to catch the right buyer. I know that I occasionally look for Mantles like this. If I find one, I am not paying PSA 8/9 prices for the card (since I already have a copy of the card anyway), but I will pay slightly more than a poor/good version of the card so that I can have an interesting but cheap addition.

Econteachert205 04-19-2017 02:37 PM

I'd trade you something for them valuing the cards above normal value. I'd say the three cards would have 40-55 dollars worth of trade value to me.

EYECOLLECTVINTAGE 04-19-2017 02:49 PM

Offer me some trades. A member here explained this is called ghost. I saw a common sell for 7.95 plus shipping on eBay and can't find anything else.

Econteachert205 04-19-2017 02:55 PM

I'd trade you a nice raw American beauty t205 Titus and a couple of random 60's hofers.

If you can find out who paid that much please let them know I have 100's of them I would sell for that.:)

I will do some looking and send you a trade offer on the Seaver later. I have several Seaver errors and that one would look nice with the others.

Send me some photos PM

If you guys run across any Brooksie cards I'd be interested.

If you'll throw in a pair of 3D glasses, that might help the sale...or cut down on dizziness.

EYECOLLECTVINTAGE 04-20-2017 06:42 AM

Haha thanks everyone for all the interest. I was actually offered a beautiful (although a tad beat up) Tony lazzari RC 1933 goudey. Didn't realize so many people here collected this stuff. I love trading because some people here said it was worth 10 but some people valued it more in a trade. Thanks for all the offers. I'm sure I'll be dealing with everyone soon enough.

JustinD 04-20-2017 08:23 AM

Whoever, called that a ghost was incorrect. Those are offset errors.

I would be interested in the Seaver as I collect that specific card and printing errors. Would you you be interested in a trade offer for just that one or as a group? Or did your last post mean you accepted the goudey?

Sorry yes my last post meant I accepted it.

JustinD 04-20-2017 10:39 AM

Bummer.

If whoever traded for it would like to sell or trade the Seaver, please contact me.

Exhibitman 04-23-2017 01:12 PM

I collect these. For these really 'good' registration errors about $10-$20 each is realistic. You would probably have to pay more for a piece that is way misstruck. I paid $10 for a Clemente which I thought of as a steal. I'd estimate the Seaver at $25 or more based on other first tier HOFer print anomalies from the era.

Grading is a waste of money if the TPG even takes the card; PSA rejected the last batch I tried.

I only like them if the registration offset is as severe as these but I do buy them often, likely 3-4 a month if they come up. I just think they look like a Warhol piece if you find a good one.

I pay generally 5-10 for these, but you are absolutely correct that hof players are a needle in a haystack to find. I would have easily offered 35-40 for the Seaver.
