Anson autograph question ?

Was asked by a grading company if I would like a opinion on the Anson signature if I submit --?????? --

If anything, looks like a "Capt" Anson autograph, which most people now believe were ghost signed.

Don't waste your time. If that's a cut, it's worthless, IMO.

What is it on? A photo? Album?

Looks like it is an identification on top of a mounted vintage photograph with the name written by a newspaper.

If they say that is an autograph, I have lost all faith.

I am confused by your original wording. Did someone from the grading company reach out to you to offer a a authentication for a fee. If so this is a interesting strategy of them proactively seeking out customers to authenticate for when they presumably know the answer to their authenticity opinion.

I have heard them do that before, but usually only when a legitimate autograph is on a card or photo that the person submitting just thinks is stray handwriting. I think it happened to Leon on his Chief Meyers Sporting Life cabinet or something like that. I can't imagine that being the case here as it is clearly just an identification done by a newspaper artist after all identifications on the front and back of the image were obstructed by editorial artwork.
