Delusional Ebay Sellers!

Posted By: Michael Poland
This is nothing new to anyone but I thought I'd throw this out there. As I was searching ebay, filtering through the copious amounts of reprints, counterfeits, etc. I run across quite a few Honus Wagner T206 reprints. Ok, nothing new. However, this one in particular caught my eye, not because of an interest in the card but the way it was listed.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/ebayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5103778413

I normally just shrug and move on when I see these kinds of things but I decided to drop this person an email stating such:

"No offense but if you are selling this with a BIN of $200 then you know darn well it isn't REAL! Please don't think T206 collectors or card collectors in general are that naive to even think there is a chance of it not being a reprint. "

I then get this response:
"am selling it as REPRINT, but it is an old REPRINT and if i may say so myself, it is a darn good Reprint.."

My reply to this was:
"I do understand that you have the word reprint in your auction. What bothers me is the "???" after the word. The implication that it COULD be real is what I am mainly talking about. "

Then of all responses I get this:
"ther is a slight possibibily. very slight.."

I figure at this point I will let my contact with this seller fade. I will give credit to him as I was actually expecting to be told off in some form or fashion. Some people I tell ya.

Posted By: Gary B.
This guy says, "Therefore I am selling it as a RARE Old REPRINT. Some Old Reprints go for over $500."

And which reprint would that be that goes for over $500. Are older reprints really THAT much more desirable than newer reprints? Neither are the original...

If you found a T206 Wagner that you thought had even a 1% chance of being real, wouldn't it be worth a $10 investment to find out for sure?

This guy is actually selling several cards where he states definitively that they are reprints, but not this one. Then again, the guy did answer your questions somewhat straightforwardly and he does have a 100% rating. This guy isn't so bad compared to SO many others...
